Technical Delivery Lead (Software Architecture & Cloudflare Workers) We’re looking for a senior, hands-on engineer to represent the founders in technical discussions with our software development partner and cloud providers. You’ll guide the overall architecture throughout development, give engineers specific direction on improvements, and independently verify what is ready for approval. What you’ll deliver • Guide and optimize the architecture throughout development. Review high-level and low-level designs, APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure as the product evolves. Propose changes that improve performance, reliability, security, or operating cost. Explain the trade-offs and validate major decisions through benchmarks or small proofs of concept where needed. • Give engineers actionable technical feedback. Review critical code TypeScript/JavaScript, Python/Django, REST APIs, PostgreSQL, and CI/CD pipelines., pull requests, staging builds, and CI/CD results. For each material gap, explain what needs to change, agree on acceptance criteria with the development team, and verify the fix before closing it. • Identify and verify security gaps. Review authentication, access controls, API security, secrets, data protection, and logging. Prioritize findings by severity, agree on remediation with the engineers, and verify fixes through retesting. Flag issues that should block a release. • Lead technical discussions and support commercial negotiations with Cloudflare and other cloud vendors. Help source and shortlist providers, evaluate proposals and pricing, and challenge assumptions about capacity, support, and operating costs. Seek written confirmation of service limits, regional processing and data residency commitments where applicable, SLAs, and support terms before the founders commit. • Oversee Cloudflare Workers implementation. Assess which workloads belong in Workers and which belong in backend services. Review caching, deployments, monitoring, failure handling, and rollback. Help the engineering team troubleshoot issues and validate fixes. • Report weekly and recommend milestone sign-off. Give the founders a concise record of what was delivered, what you verified, and what remains open. Track corrective actions with owners and due dates. At each milestone, recommend whether to approve, approve subject to specific corrections, or hold approval. Review production readiness and handover before the final release. You’ll report directly to the founders. The development partner implements the work, you verify the results and recommend acceptance, and the founders retain final approval and commercial authority. What we’re looking for • Senior engineering, technical lead, or software architecture experience taking a product from design through production. • Hands-on experience personally building, deploying, and troubleshooting Cloudflare Workers in production . • Ability to review TypeScript/JavaScript, Python/Django, Go, REST APIs, PostgreSQL, and CI/CD pipelines . • Experience finding application or cloud security gaps, guiding remediation, and verifying that fixes work. • Vendor sourcing and negotiation experience. You can identify and shortlist suitable cloud providers, implementation partners, or specialist technical vendors, compare their proposals, and support negotiations on pricing, service commitments, and support. • Experience guiding engineers and holding an external development team accountable for agreed technical deliverables. You can explain risks and trade-offs clearly to both engineers and founders. • Technical hiring and sourcing support. Work with the founders and HR to define technical roles, source suitable engineers and specialist, review CVs and portfolios, conduct technical interviews and practical assessments and recommend candidates. Support onboarding and assess technical performance during probation. • Cloud and infrastructure cost optimization. Identify and implement opportunities to reduce cloud hosting, storage, bandwidth, database, and related service costs, targeting 30% or greater savings against an agreed baseline, where technically and commercially achievable. Combine architecture improvements, resource optimization, and vendor negotiations while maintaining agreed performance, reliability, security, and data residency requirements. Track and report verified savings.
