Tally Clerk (Cargo / Port Operations)

Job Description Sharaf Shipping Agency LLC, part of Sharaf Group, is hiring a Tally Clerk to monitor and record cargo during loading and discharge operations. The role ensures cargo quantities and conditions are accurately documented and discrepancies are reported promptly. Key Responsibilities • Count, check, and record cargo during vessel loading and discharging • Verify cargo against manifests, Bills of Lading, delivery orders, and stowage plans • Record cargo marks, numbers, quantities, and visible damage or shortages • Prepare tally sheets and daily cargo reports • Report discrepancies, damages, and delays to the Operations Supervisor immediately • Coordinate with stevedores, terminal staff, surveyors, and customs • Ensure compliance with port safety rules and use of PPE at all times • Maintain accurate records and hand over tally documents on time Required Skills & Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent; a diploma in logistics or shipping is an advantage • 1-3 years of experience as a tally clerk or in cargo checking, preferably in a port or terminal • Knowledge of cargo handling, shipping documents, and tally procedures • Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy • Basic computer skills (MS Excel, email) • Good English communication skills; Arabic or French is an advantage • Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and outdoors • Physically fit and able to work at the quayside and on vessels
