Job description
In a nutshell: This person sets the rules for how MarTech performance is measured. They decide which KPIs count and how they re defined, make sure tracking and data can be trusted, govern attribution and testing, and give leadership a clear view of what the MarTech investment is delivering. They re the independent referee on measurement. It s explicitly not a dashboard-production role, and they don t own channel performance.
What they ll do:
• Measurement framework and KPIs: build one trusted framework linking MarTech platforms and projects to adoption, operational, customer and commercial outcomes. Create and own a KPI dictionary (definitions, formulas, sources, owners), and check that new projects have baselines, tracking and targets before launch.
• Tracking and data quality: set validation checks with MarTech Ops and Analytics across web, app and CRM. Keep a register of measurement issues and drive fixes, and sign off any changes to KPIs, tracking or reporting logic.
• Attribution and experimentation: set the attribution approach and document its limits. Set standards for A/B tests, holdouts and incrementality, separate real incremental impact from simply observed results, and turn the findings into investment recommendations.
• Executive reporting: produce concise scorecards for leadership covering adoption, reliability, efficiency and commercial impact, plus benefits-realisation views that show whether approved business cases delivered. Certify the official data sources so there s one version of the truth.
• Governance and standards: run regular governance forums and set standards for campaign naming, taxonomy and metadata. Work with Privacy and Data Governance on consent.
• Optimisation: spot underused tools, duplicated tech and measurement gaps, prioritise fixes, and supply evidence for investment and renewal decisions.
• Stakeholders and vendors: act as the independent measurement partner for CRM, Loyalty, Performance Marketing, Ecommerce and Analytics. Challenge unsupported claims constructively and make sure vendor-reported results are transparent and can be checked.
What success looks like: everyone uses the same documented definitions and certified sources, new projects launch measurable, leadership gets concise decision-ready reporting, and MarTech spend is visibly linked to outcomes.
• 5-7+ years in digital analytics, marketing measurement, marketing effectiveness or BI.
• A track record of defining KPI frameworks, validating measurement and building executive reporting.
• Practical experience with attribution, experimentation or incrementality, and the ability to explain their limits.
• GA4 or similar tools, BI/dashboard skills, and an understanding of campaign taxonomy, tracking, identity and consent. SQL is a plus.
• Multi-brand, multi-channel or multi-market experience preferred.
• Independent and evidence-led: confident challenging weak conclusions without making things more bureaucratic.
