Job description

**Job Purpose** Provide specialist technical support for **water and steam systems supporting heavy\-oil field operations**, ensuring safe, reliable, efficient, and optimized operation. **Key Responsibilities** * Provide technical support for **steam generation, distribution, injection, and condensate systems**. * Optimize **water treatment, boiler performance, steam quality, and water quality**. * Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for efficiency, reliability, and operational improvement. * Troubleshoot issues related to steam systems, boilers, water treatment, and utilities. * Review operating data, chemical treatment programs, water chemistry, and steam quality. * Support technical studies, debottlenecking initiatives, facility modifications, and projects. * Review designs, specifications, vendor proposals, and technical submissions. * Conduct technical audits and performance assessments. * Support energy, water, and steam conservation initiatives. * Provide technical guidance to Operations and Maintenance teams. **Minimum Academic Qualifications** * Bachelor’s degree in **Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or Water / Environmental Engineering**. * Professional engineering certification is preferred. **Experience Requirements** * Minimum **15 years of relevant experience**. * Required experience in: * heavy\-oil / thermal recovery operations; * steam generation; * water treatment; * utility systems. * Oil and gas field experience is highly preferred. **Mandatory Technical Competencies** * Strong knowledge of boilers and steam\-generation systems. * Steam distribution and injection systems. * Water treatment and water chemistry. * Boiler water chemistry and chemical treatment. * Steam quality and condensate management. * Cooling\-water systems. * Troubleshooting, optimization, and performance assessment. * Knowledge of applicable engineering standards and HSE requirements. **Preferred Professional Certifications** * **Professional Engineer / Chartered Engineer** or equivalent. * **CEM**, boiler, water\-treatment, or other relevant specialist certification is advantageous. **Additional Requirements** * Strong understanding of **heavy\-oil steam injection and thermal recovery processes**. * Ability to work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Reservoir, Production, and Projects teams. * Field\-based experience and willingness to conduct site inspections. * Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical\-reporting skills. * Ability to provide independent technical recommendations and support operational decision\-making.
