Head of Application Development

We are looking for an experienced Head of Application Development to lead software development teams and drive the design, development, implementation and continuous improvement of IT applications. The role will be responsible for defining technology direction, overseeing application architecture, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality software solutions aligned with business requirements. • Define and implement the strategic vision and roadmap for software development and application architecture. • Lead and manage software developers and testers to deliver high-quality IT applications. • Oversee the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from requirements analysis and design through development, testing and implementation. • Work closely with Product Managers, Product Owners and business stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions. • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within agreed quality standards and against business priorities. • Establish and maintain development standards, best practices, frameworks and continuous improvement initiatives. • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend suitable platforms and solutions to support business growth. • Manage development resources, team performance, capability building and succession planning. • Ensure effective documentation, project monitoring, stakeholder communication and application support. Required Technical Skills • Strong experience in software development, system analysis, coding and application implementation. • Hands-on programming experience in more than one recognised industry-standard language. • Experience with technologies such as Java, Oracle Technologies, .NET and AngularJS . • Strong understanding of software architecture, development frameworks and SDLC methodologies. • Experience delivering complex software products and managing multiple development projects. • Knowledge of database technologies and integration of enterprise applications. Required Experience and Competencies • 15–18 years of overall experience in software development, system analysis, coding, SDLC and application implementation. • 7–10 years of experience in programming languages and development tools. • 7–10 years of team and resource management experience. • Proven leadership experience managing software development and testing teams. • Strong project management, analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities. • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and documentation skills. • Ability to translate conceptual requirements into business and functional requirements. Preferred Candidate Profile A technically strong software development professional with proven experience in application architecture, hands-on programming, technology strategy and leading development teams.
