Job Description – Construction Supervisor (Mechanical)
1\. Position Details
**Job Title:** Construction Supervisor – Mechanical
**Department:** Construction / Projects
**Industry:** Construction / Oil \& Gas / Industrial Projects
**Reports To:** Construction Manager / Construction Manager
**Location:** Project / Site
**Employment Type:** Full\-Time
2\. Job Purpose
The Mechanical Construction Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating Mechanical construction activities at the project site, ensuring that all works are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, quality requirements, and project schedules.
The position will supervise site manpower and subcontractors while coordinating with engineering, QA/QC, HSE, planning, procurement, and client representatives to achieve project targets.
3\. Key Responsibilities
A. Mechanical Construction Supervision
* Supervise day\-to\-day Mechanical construction activities at the project site.
* Allocate manpower, equipment, materials, and tools according to work requirements.
* Ensure construction activities are carried out in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
* Review construction drawings and identify discrepancies or site constraints.
* Coordinate with subcontractors and ensure work is completed as per project requirements.
* Monitor site activities and ensure proper sequencing of work.
B. Planning \& Progress Monitoring
* Prepare daily and weekly work plans in coordination with the Construction Manager and Planning Engineer.
* Monitor actual progress against planned targets.
* Ensure required manpower, materials, equipment, and work fronts are available.
* Identify delays, constraints, and productivity issues and recommend corrective actions.
* Support recovery plans to achieve project milestones.
* Provide accurate daily progress information to the planning team.
C. Quality Control
* Ensure mechanical works comply with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, and project quality requirements.
* Coordinate with QA/QC inspectors for required inspections and approvals.
* Ensure materials are approved before use.
* Ensure proper inspection and testing activities are completed.
* Monitor quality observations, NCRs, and corrective actions.
* Minimize rework through proper supervision and quality control.
* Ensure punch\-list items are completed within agreed timelines.
D. HSE Responsibilities
* Ensure all mechanical construction activities comply with project and company HSE requirements.
* Conduct toolbox talks and communicate work hazards to the workforce.
* Ensure proper PPE is used at all times.
* Verify that required permits, risk assessments, method statements, and lifting/excavation plans are available before work starts.
* Identify unsafe conditions and immediately implement corrective measures.
* Stop work when an immediate safety risk is identified.
* Participate in HSE inspections, audits, and incident investigations when required.
E. Manpower \& Workforce Management
* Supervise mechanical foremen, chargehands, masons, carpenters, steel fixers, laborers, equipment operators, and subcontractor manpower.
* Allocate work according to project priorities and workforce competency.
* Monitor manpower productivity and utilization.
* Maintain workforce discipline and ensure compliance with site rules.
* Identify manpower requirements and communicate shortages to management.
* Provide guidance and on\-the\-job coaching to site personnel.
F. Subcontractor Management
* Supervise and monitor mechanical subcontractors at site.
* Ensure subcontractors comply with approved drawings, specifications, schedules, quality standards, and HSE requirements.
* Monitor subcontractor productivity and manpower deployment.
* Verify completed work before requesting inspection.
* Coordinate resolution of technical and site\-related issues.
* Report poor performance, delays, or non\-compliance to the Construction Manager.
G. Site Coordination
* Coordinate with Engineering, QA/QC, HSE, Planning, Procurement, Stores, Mechanical, Electrical, and other disciplines.
* Coordinate work fronts and avoid clashes between mechanical and other disciplines.
* Liaise with client representatives and consultants during inspections.
* Attend site coordination and progress meetings as required.
* Ensure proper handover of completed areas to subsequent disciplines.
H. Materials \& Equipment Control
* Ensure construction materials are available before starting planned activities.
* Coordinate with Stores and Procurement regarding material requirements.
* Monitor proper handling, storage, and utilization of construction materials.
* Ensure construction equipment is available and suitable for the required activities.
* Report equipment breakdowns and material shortages promptly.
I. Documentation \& Reporting
* Prepare daily construction reports and site progress updates.
* Maintain records of manpower, equipment, materials, work progress, inspections, and activities.
* Record quantities completed for progress measurement.
* Report delays, technical problems, material shortages, and other constraints.
* Support preparation of as\-built documentation.
* Ensure proper closure and documentation of punch\-list items.
4\. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
* Mechanical construction progress versus approved project schedule.
* Achievement of daily and weekly construction targets.
* Manpower productivity and utilization.
* Subcontractor productivity and performance.
* Quality compliance and reduction of rework.
* Number and timely closure of NCRs/quality observations.
* Safety compliance and reduction of unsafe acts/conditions.
* Timely completion of punch\-list items.
* Material and equipment utilization.
* Reduction of construction delays and idle manpower.
5\. Qualifications
* Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
* Relevant technical qualification with extensive mechanical construction experience may also be considered.
* Valid HSE/safety certifications as required by the project.
6\. Experience
* **Diploma:** Minimum 8–10 years of relevant mechanical construction experience.
* **Bachelor's Degree:** in Mechanical Engineering with Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience.
* Experience in construction, infrastructure, industrial, oil \& gas, petrochemical, refinery, EPC, or similar projects is preferred.
* Proven experience supervising subcontractors and large site workforces.
7\. Technical Skills
* Mechanical construction and site supervision.
* Reinforcement and formwork.
* Understanding of construction specifications and method statements.
* Quality inspection and testing requirements.
* Construction planning and progress monitoring.
* Permit\-to\-work and excavation safety requirements.
* Basic knowledge of applicable construction standards and codes.
8\. Working Conditions
* Primarily site\-based position.
* May require extended working hours, weekends, and shift work depending on project requirements.
* Exposure to outdoor construction environments, dust, noise, heavy equipment, excavation areas, and varying weather conditions.
* Must comply with all project HSE, security, and site\-access requirements.
Pay: RO600\.000 \- RO800\.000 per month
Work Location: In person
