Job Description – Construction Supervisor (Electrical) 1\. Job Purpose The Electrical Construction Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating electrical construction and installation activities at the project site, ensuring that all works are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, quality standards, and project schedules. The position will manage electrical site teams and subcontractors while coordinating with engineering, QA/QC, HSE, planning, procurement, and client representatives. 3\. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Electrical Construction Supervision * Supervise day\-to\-day electrical construction and installation activities. * Plan and allocate manpower, tools, materials, and equipment according to work requirements. * Supervise installation of electrical equipment, cables, cable trays, conduits, panels, switchgear, lighting, earthing, and related systems. * Monitor installation of LV, MV, and HV electrical systems as applicable to the project. * Supervise cable pulling, termination, glanding, dressing, testing, and identification. * Ensure electrical installations are carried out in accordance with approved drawings and project specifications. * Review electrical drawings, layouts, single\-line diagrams, and cable schedules. * Coordinate with subcontractors and ensure proper execution of assigned work fronts. * Identify site constraints and coordinate corrective actions with the Construction Manager. B. Planning \& Progress Monitoring * Prepare daily and weekly work plans in coordination with the Planning Engineer. * Monitor actual progress against approved project schedules. * Ensure availability of manpower, materials, equipment, and tools before commencement of work. * Provide accurate progress information and completed quantities to the planning team. * Identify delays and productivity issues and support recovery plans. * Coordinate electrical activities with civil, mechanical, instrumentation, and other disciplines. C. Quality Control * Ensure electrical works comply with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, and project quality requirements. * Coordinate with QA/QC inspectors for inspections and testing. * Ensure proper installation and testing of electrical equipment and systems. * Verify cable routing, termination, gland installation, cable identification, and equipment connections. * Ensure proper torqueing of electrical connections where applicable. * Monitor insulation resistance, continuity, earth resistance, and other required electrical tests. * Ensure testing and inspection records are properly completed. * Address quality observations, NCRs, and punch\-list items promptly. * Minimize rework through effective supervision and quality control. D. HSE Responsibilities * Ensure all electrical construction activities comply with company and project HSE requirements. * Conduct toolbox talks and communicate electrical hazards to workers. * Ensure appropriate PPE and electrical safety equipment are used. * Verify that required permits, risk assessments, method statements, and isolation procedures are available before work starts. * Ensure compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements. * Ensure electrical work is performed by competent and authorized personnel. * Maintain safe working distances from energized equipment and systems. * Stop unsafe work and immediately report hazardous conditions. * Participate in HSE inspections, audits, and incident investigations as required. E. Manpower \& Workforce Management * Supervise electrical foremen, electricians, technicians, cable jointers, helpers, and subcontractor manpower. * Allocate work according to project priorities and workforce competency. * Monitor manpower productivity and utilization. * Ensure workers have the required skills, tools, PPE, and permits. * Maintain workforce discipline and compliance with site procedures. * Identify manpower requirements and communicate shortages to management. * Provide technical guidance and on\-the\-job coaching to site personnel. F. Subcontractor Management * Supervise and monitor electrical subcontractors. * Ensure subcontractors comply with approved drawings, specifications, project schedules, quality standards, and HSE requirements. * Monitor subcontractor manpower and productivity. * Verify completed works before requesting inspection. * Coordinate resolution of technical and construction issues. * Report delays, poor performance, and non\-compliance to the Construction Manager. G. Site Coordination * Coordinate with Engineering, QA/QC, HSE, Planning, Procurement, Stores, Civil, Mechanical, Instrumentation, and other disciplines. * Coordinate electrical work fronts to prevent clashes and construction delays. * Liaise with client representatives and consultants during inspections. * Participate in site coordination and progress meetings. * Coordinate system testing, energization, commissioning, and handover activities. * Ensure completed electrical systems are properly handed over to commissioning teams. H. Materials \& Equipment Control * Ensure electrical materials are available before planned activities commence. * Coordinate with Stores and Procurement for required materials. * Verify that electrical materials are approved and suitable for installation. * Monitor proper handling, storage, and protection of electrical equipment and materials. * Ensure construction tools and testing equipment are available and properly maintained. * Report material shortages, damaged materials, and equipment issues promptly. I. Testing, Commissioning \& Handover * Coordinate pre\-commissioning and testing activities. * Support electrical testing and commissioning teams. * Ensure completion of inspection and test records. * Coordinate equipment energization activities in accordance with approved procedures. * Ensure punch\-list items are closed before system handover. * Support preparation of as\-built drawings, test reports, and handover documentation. J. Documentation \& Reporting * Prepare daily electrical construction reports. * Maintain records of manpower, equipment, materials, work progress, inspections, and testing. * Record completed quantities and provide progress information. * Report technical issues, delays, material shortages, and construction constraints. * Maintain records of inspection requests and test results. * Support preparation of as\-built documentation and final handover dossiers. 4\. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) * Electrical construction progress versus approved project schedule. * Achievement of daily and weekly work targets. * Electrical workforce productivity and utilization. * Subcontractor performance. * Quality compliance and reduction of electrical rework. * Timely closure of NCRs and punch\-list items. * Safety compliance and electrical incident prevention. * Testing and commissioning progress. * Material and equipment utilization. * Timely completion and handover of electrical systems. 5\. Qualifications * Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred. * Relevant technical qualification with extensive electrical construction experience may be considered. * Valid electrical safety/HSE certifications as required by the project. 6\. Experience * **Diploma:** Minimum 8–10 years of relevant electrical construction experience. * **Bachelor's Degree:** Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience. * Experience in construction, industrial, oil \& gas, petrochemical, refinery, EPC, power, or infrastructure projects is preferred. * Experience supervising electrical subcontractors and site teams is required. 7\. Technical Skills * Electrical construction and installation. * LV/MV/HV systems as applicable. * Switchgear, MCCs, distribution boards, and electrical panels. * Cable trays, conduits, cable pulling, glanding, and termination. * Lighting and small power systems. * Earthing and lightning protection systems. * Electrical equipment installation. * Electrical testing and commissioning. * Single\-line diagrams and electrical drawings. * Cable schedules and termination diagrams. * Method statements and ITPs. * Permit\-to\-work and LOTO procedures. * Construction planning and progress monitoring. * Applicable electrical codes, standards, and project specifications. 8\. Working Conditions * Primarily site\-based position. * May require extended working hours, weekends, and shift work depending on project requirements. * Exposure to construction environments, electrical equipment, elevated work areas, outdoor conditions, dust, noise, and heavy equipment. * Must comply with all project HSE, electrical safety, security, and site\-access requirements.
