Job Description – Construction Supervisor (Instrumentation). 1\. Position Details **Job Title:** Construction Supervisor – Instrumentation **Department:** Construction / Projects **Industry:** Oil \& Gas / Petrochemical / Industrial / EPC / Construction **Reports To:** Construction Manager / Instrumentation Construction Manager **Location:** Project / Site **Employment Type:** Full\-Time 2\. Job Purpose The Instrumentation Construction Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating all instrumentation construction and installation activities at the project site. The position ensures that instrumentation works are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, quality requirements, project schedules, and applicable industry standards. The role involves managing instrumentation manpower and subcontractors and coordinating closely with engineering, QA/QC, HSE, planning, electrical, mechanical, piping, commissioning, and client teams. 3\. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Instrumentation Construction Supervision * Supervise daily instrumentation construction and installation activities. * Plan and allocate manpower, tools, materials, and equipment according to project requirements. * Supervise installation of field instruments, control valves, transmitters, gauges, switches, analyzers, junction boxes, instrument panels, and related equipment. * Supervise instrument tubing, impulse lines, cable installation, cable trays, conduits, and supports. * Monitor installation of instrument cables, glanding, termination, dressing, tagging, and identification. * Ensure instrumentation equipment is installed according to approved drawings, specifications, and manufacturer recommendations. * Review instrument installation drawings, hook\-up drawings, loop diagrams, cable schedules, and instrument indexes. * Ensure proper installation, alignment, support, accessibility, and protection of instruments. * Coordinate with subcontractors and ensure proper execution of assigned work fronts. B. Planning \& Progress Monitoring * Prepare daily and weekly instrumentation work plans in coordination with the Planning Engineer. * Monitor progress against approved project schedules and milestones. * Ensure availability of manpower, materials, instruments, tools, and equipment before starting work. * Provide accurate progress quantities and status reports to the planning team. * Identify construction constraints and delays and implement corrective actions. * Support recovery plans to achieve project targets. * Coordinate instrumentation activities with piping, mechanical, electrical, civil, and commissioning teams. C. Quality Control * Ensure instrumentation works comply with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, and project quality requirements. * Coordinate with QA/QC inspectors for inspection and testing activities. * Verify correct installation of instruments, tubing, impulse lines, junction boxes, cable trays, and instrument cables. * Ensure instrument tags and identification are installed correctly. * Verify proper cable termination, gland installation, shielding, grounding, and continuity. * Ensure tubing is correctly routed, supported, connected, and leak tested where applicable. * Review and address quality observations, NCRs, and punch\-list items. * Ensure all inspection and testing records are completed and maintained. * Minimize rework through effective supervision and quality control. D. HSE Responsibilities * Ensure all instrumentation activities comply with project and company HSE requirements. * Conduct toolbox talks and communicate job\-specific hazards to workers. * Ensure appropriate PPE is used by all personnel. * Verify required permits, risk assessments, method statements, and isolation procedures are available before work starts. * Ensure safe working practices during work at height, cable installation, instrument installation, testing, and commissioning. * Ensure compliance with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements where applicable. * Ensure only competent and authorized personnel perform specialized instrumentation activities. * Identify unsafe conditions and implement immediate corrective action. * Stop unsafe work when necessary and report incidents or near misses promptly. E. Manpower \& Workforce Management * Supervise instrumentation foremen, technicians, instrument fitters, tubing technicians, electricians, helpers, and subcontractor manpower. * Allocate work according to project priorities and individual competency. * Monitor workforce productivity and utilization. * Ensure personnel have appropriate tools, PPE, materials, drawings, and work permits. * Maintain workforce discipline and compliance with site procedures. * Identify manpower requirements and communicate shortages to management. * Provide technical guidance and on\-the\-job coaching to site personnel. F. Subcontractor Management * Supervise and monitor instrumentation subcontractors. * Ensure subcontractors comply with approved drawings, specifications, schedules, quality requirements, and HSE standards. * Monitor subcontractor manpower, productivity, and work quality. * Verify completed works before requesting client/QA\-QC inspection. * Monitor subcontractor documentation and inspection records. * Identify and report delays, poor performance, or non\-compliance. * Coordinate corrective actions with subcontractor supervisors. G. Site Coordination * Coordinate with Engineering, QA/QC, HSE, Planning, Procurement, Stores, Electrical, Mechanical, Piping, Civil, and Commissioning teams. * Coordinate instrumentation work fronts and resolve interface issues. * Liaise with client representatives and consultants during inspections. * Participate in site coordination and progress meetings. * Coordinate instrument installation with piping and mechanical completion activities. * Ensure proper handover of completed systems to pre\-commissioning and commissioning teams. H. Materials \& Equipment Control * Ensure required instrumentation materials are available before work commencement. * Coordinate with Stores and Procurement for material requirements. * Verify that instruments and materials received at site match approved specifications and purchase requirements. * Ensure proper storage, handling, preservation, and protection of instruments. * Monitor availability and condition of calibration and testing equipment. * Report material shortages, damaged equipment, and discrepancies promptly. I. Testing, Calibration \& Commissioning * Coordinate instrumentation testing and pre\-commissioning activities. * Supervise instrument calibration and verification activities. * Coordinate continuity, insulation resistance, loop checking, and signal verification as applicable. * Support functional testing of control valves, transmitters, switches, analyzers, and other instruments. * Coordinate loop checking between field instruments, junction boxes, marshalling panels, PLC/DCS/ESD systems. * Support commissioning teams during functional and performance testing. * Ensure test results and calibration certificates are properly documented. * Ensure punch\-list items are closed before system handover. J. Documentation \& Reporting * Prepare daily instrumentation construction reports. * Maintain records of manpower, equipment, materials, work progress, inspections, calibration, and testing. * Maintain instrument installation and loop\-check status. * Provide accurate progress information for project reporting. * Report technical issues, delays, material shortages, and construction constraints. * Support preparation of as\-built drawings and handover documentation. * Maintain inspection requests, test reports, calibration certificates, and other relevant records. 4\. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) * Instrumentation construction progress against approved project schedule. * Achievement of daily and weekly installation targets. * Instrument installation completion percentage. * Cable installation and termination progress. * Loop\-check completion rate. * Calibration and testing completion rate. * Manpower productivity and utilization. * Subcontractor performance. * Number and timely closure of NCRs and punch\-list items. * Reduction of rework and installation defects. * HSE compliance and safety performance. * Timely system handover to commissioning. 5\. Qualifications * Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics \& Instrumentation Engineering, or Electrical/Control Engineering preferred. * Relevant technical qualification with extensive instrumentation construction experience may be considered. * Valid HSE/safety certifications as required by the project. 6\. Experience * **Diploma:** Minimum 8–10 years of relevant instrumentation construction experience. * **Bachelor's Degree:** Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience. * Experience in oil \& gas, petrochemical, refinery, EPC, power, industrial, or major infrastructure projects is preferred. * Experience supervising instrumentation subcontractors and multidisciplinary site teams is required. 7\. Technical Skills * Instrumentation construction and installation. * Field instruments and control systems. * Transmitters, switches, gauges, control valves, analyzers, and associated equipment. * Instrument tubing and impulse lines. * Instrument cable installation and termination. * Junction boxes and instrument panels. * Instrument hook\-up drawings. * Loop diagrams and cable schedules. * Instrument index and datasheets. * PLC/DCS/ESD system interfaces. * Calibration and testing procedures. * Loop checking and commissioning. * Method statements and ITPs. * Permit\-to\-work and LOTO procedures. * Construction planning and progress monitoring. * Knowledge of applicable instrumentation standards and project specifications. 8\. Working Conditions * Primarily site\-based position. * May require extended working hours, weekends, and shift work depending on project requirements. * Exposure to industrial/construction environments, elevated work areas, outdoor conditions, dust, noise, and operating equipment. * Must comply with all project HSE, security, permit\-to\-work, and site\-access requirements. Pay: RO600\.000 \- RO700\.000 per month Work Location: In person
