Job description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Wheel Excavator Operator (Breaker & Bucket) to safely and efficiently operate wheeled excavators equipped with breaker and bucket attachments for excavation, trenching, demolition, grading, loading, and site preparation activities. The ideal candidate will have experience working on construction, infrastructure, roadworks, or earthworks projects and be committed to maintaining high standards of safety, productivity, and equipment care.
Key Responsibilities
• Operate a wheel excavator fitted with breaker and bucket attachments safely and efficiently according to project requirements.
• Perform excavation, trenching, backfilling, grading, and material loading operations.
• Carry out concrete breaking, rock breaking, and demolition activities using the hydraulic breaker attachment.
• Change and securely install bucket and breaker attachments as required for different site activities.
• Load excavated materials into dump trucks or designated stockpile areas.
• Perform roadwork activities, utility excavation, drainage works, and general site preparation tasks.
• Conduct daily pre-start inspections and perform routine maintenance checks on the excavator and attachments.
• Report equipment faults, damage, or maintenance requirements promptly to the supervisor.
• Read and follow site plans, drawings, excavation layouts, and supervisor instructions.
• Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, excavation procedures, and site regulations.
• Work closely with site supervisors, engineers, surveyors, and ground personnel to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
• Identify and avoid underground utilities, overhead hazards, and other site risks during operations.
• Maintain the wheel excavator, breaker, and bucket attachments in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition.
• Complete daily equipment inspection checklists, logbooks, and work activity reports as required.
Requirements:
• Valid Heavy Equipment Operator License or Certification (as required by local regulations).
• Proven experience operating a Wheel Excavator with breaker and bucket attachments.
• Good understanding of excavation, trenching, demolition, grading, and material handling techniques.
• Strong knowledge of construction site safety standards and excavation procedures.
• Ability to perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance.
• Physically fit and able to work in varying weather conditions and demanding site environments.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working on road, infrastructure, utility, civil construction, or earthworks projects.
• Knowledge of GPS and machine control systems is an advantage.
• Valid First Aid Certification is preferred.
• Clean driving record and experience operating additional heavy equipment are beneficial.
• Familiarity with major excavator brands such as Caterpillar (CAT), Komatsu, Hitachi, Volvo, Hyundai, or Doosan is an advantage.
