Technician

The role holder performs inspections, installations, modifications and scheduled electromechanical preventive maintenance, repair and routine servicing of vehicles & equipment in the automobile workshop or on site and ensures that the work undertaken meets desired technical specifications, safety and quality standards, resulting in reduction of repair & maintenance cost and increase in customer satisfaction. • Attends to the assigned service complaint, diagnoses the problem, and repairs the vehicle and equipment within the assigned time. • Ensures all job cards are closed within the given timeframe from the time of activation. • Ensure proper care and operation of company provided tools, instruments, and vehicles. • Completes service assignments promptly in accordance with company standards and customer expectations, resulting in increased customer satisfaction. • Identifies electrical & mechanical faults and performs regular servicing & preventive maintenance, follows checklists to ensure that all critical parts are examined. • Achieves complete process compliance as per ISO standards and ensures zero repeat jobs. • Abides by the QHSE rules, policies and procedures preserving own safety and that of others who may be affected by personal acts of omission. • Ensures all documents are properly filed in hardcopies and records are maintained. • Ensures desired ratio of productivity and efficiency is achieved and maintained. • Performs inspections and testing, completes preventive maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters and worn parts such as brake pads, wheel bearings, sensors. • Preserves vehicle functional condition by accurately recording operator complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failure(s); repairing mechanical and electrical system(s) malfunction. • Optimizes cost by utilizing warranty, evaluating service and parts options. • Prepares supplies by assessing stock; placing orders; verifying receipt • Ensures that a presentable company uniform is always correctly worn when on duty • Determines whether parts are in stock by visiting Stores, and if so, completes a Requisition Form and takes parts to garage to carry out repairs or maintenance. If parts not available, completes Material Requisition (MR), stating details of required parts such as serial number, type of part, quantity and car details, then passes to Stores to order the required parts. • Checks ordered parts are delivered correctly by visiting Stores. Completes Stores Requisition Form to take the required parts and carry out necessary repairs. Seeks assistance from Supervisor or Engineer for any difficulties on repairing. • Carry out ad hoc duties when no mechanical repairs are waiting to be done, such as cleaning and tidying workshop, to keep area as safe and organized as possible. • Record performed job on the job card, performs other similar or related duties as and when assigned by direct supervisor
