Senior Node.Js Developer / Technical Lead – Backend

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced *Senior Node.js Developer / Technical Lead* to take ownership of an existing enterprise application and drive its continued development, maintenance, optimization, and modernization. The ideal candidate should have deep hands-on experience in *Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, backend architecture, API development, databases, cloud environments, application security, and production troubleshooting*. This role requires someone who can quickly understand an existing and potentially complex codebase, independently perform knowledge transfer, identify architectural and technical gaps, improve code quality, resolve production issues, and develop new functionality without impacting existing business processes. The application has also been developed using modern AI-assisted development tools such as *Codex, Claude, and Gemini*, so the candidate should be comfortable reviewing, validating, refactoring, and maintaining AI-assisted or AI-generated code rather than relying on it blindly. • Take complete technical ownership of an existing Node.js-based application. • Participate in detailed Knowledge Transfer sessions with the existing development team and independently understand the application architecture, business logic, codebase, database, APIs, integrations, and deployment process. • Analyse the existing application and identify architectural gaps, technical debt, performance issues, security concerns, and areas requiring modernization. • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance scalable backend applications using *Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript*. • Develop and maintain secure, scalable, and high-performance REST APIs and backend services. • Understand and improve existing modules without disrupting current business functionality. • Review existing code and refactor poorly structured, duplicated, or inefficient implementations. • Review and validate code developed with the assistance of AI coding tools such as Codex, Claude, Gemini, GitHub Copilot, or similar platforms. • Implement strong coding standards, architecture guidelines, design patterns, and development best practices. • Troubleshoot complex application issues across development, UAT, and production environments. • Analyse logs, application behaviour, API responses, database queries, performance bottlenecks, and infrastructure issues. • Design and optimize database queries, schemas, indexes, stored procedures, and data access layers where required. • Integrate third-party systems, APIs, payment gateways, SMS/email services, webhooks, and other enterprise platforms. • Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms including JWT, OAuth, RBAC, and related security controls. • Develop proper exception handling, logging, monitoring, auditing, and application observability. • Support application deployment, release management, rollback, and production troubleshooting. • Work with DevOps teams on Docker, CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, environment configuration, and application deployment. • Conduct code reviews and mentor junior and mid-level developers. • Prepare and maintain technical documentation including architecture, APIs, deployment procedures, application setup, and troubleshooting guides. • Participate in technical discussions with internal stakeholders, customers, architects, and project managers. • Recommend technology improvements and modernization initiatives where appropriate.
