Job description
We are hiring one experienced manager to build our new pressed steel transformer radiator factory in Oman and then run it.
Engineering Systems International Projects Co. (ESIP) is setting up a greenfield radiator plant. The plant will make radiators for power and distribution transformers for Oman and the GCC, using a fully automatic panel line.
The role runs in two phases:
• Phase 1 – Project Manager, Plant Setup (about 12–18 months): construction, machinery, commissioning and plant readiness.
• Phase 2 – Plant Manager (ongoing): full responsibility for running the plant.
• Location: Muscat and Sohar.
• Reports to: ESIP Managing Director
• Works with: our technology collaborator, machinery suppliers, contractors and customers.
• Type: full-time, on site, relocation to Oman
•
Phase 1: Plant setup (about 12–18 months)
You will take the factory from an empty plot to a plant producing approved radiators, on time and within budget.
Project management
• Own the master schedule, budget and risk register for the plant, and report progress monthly to management.
• Manage civil, MEP and building contractors through design, construction and handover of the factory shed, foundations, cranes, flooring and utilities.
• Coordinate permits and approvals with the industrial estate and Omani authorities.
Plant and machinery
• Finalise plant layout, process flow and utility requirements (power, substation, compressed air, water, fume extraction, paint shop).
• Review machinery specifications, compare vendor offers and support purchasing decisions.
• Attend factory acceptance tests at suppliers, then supervise delivery, installation and commissioning in Oman.
• Make sure the fully automatic panel line (forming, spot, multi-spot and seam welding, testing and evaluation) meets its rated output.
Readiness
• Work with our technology collaborator to put SOPs, quality system, welding procedures and test procedures in place.
• Set up stores, procurement, maintenance, HSE and production planning functions.
• Plan manpower, recruit the first team and organise training, including Omani staff under our Omanisation plan.
• Lead trial production, type testing and product approval with Voltamp.
Phase 1 is complete when the plant passes its performance acceptance test and our radiators are approved by our customers.
Phase 2: Plant Manager
Once the plant is running, you will be fully responsible for its safety, output, quality and cost.
• Run day-to-day production to meet customer orders, delivery dates and output targets.
• Keep quality under control: inspection and testing of every radiator, customer and third-party audits, ISO 9001 certification and upkeep.
• Drive key figures: output per shift, leak-test first-pass rate, scrap and rework, plant availability and cost per tonne.
• Lead maintenance, spare parts and continuous improvement.
• Enforce HSE standards across welding, lifting, painting and chemicals.
• Manage, develop and appraise the plant team, and grow Omani supervisors and engineers into key roles.
• Support sales with technical input, customer visits and new product introductions.
• Prepare the annual plant budget and report monthly results to management.
•
Requirements
Essential
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, production or industrial engineering.
• 12+ years in manufacturing, with at least 5 years in transformer radiators or heavy sheet-metal fabrication.
• At least one greenfield plant or major new production line taken from construction to stable production.
• Hands-on knowledge of press forming, resistance spot and seam welding, MIG/TIG welding, pressure and leak testing, and industrial painting.
• Experience running a plant under ISO 9001 and passing customer audits.
• Managed contractors, machinery suppliers and a capex budget.
• Fluent English; willing to relocate to Oman.
Preferred
• Supplied radiators to transformer makers or utilities.
• Experience with PLC-controlled automatic lines.
• Familiar with IEC , ISO 3834 and welding qualification.
• Previous work in Oman or the GCC; Arabic or Hindi is a plus.
• PMP or similar project management training.
What we offer and how to apply
• Competitive tax-free salary in Oman, based on experience.
• Employment visa and relocation support.
• A rare chance to build a plant from day one and lead it long term.
