OP Medical Coder

• Check and sequence the most accurate ICD-9/ICD10-CM/CPT/HCPCS/DRG/Other codes for diagnoses and procedures for documented information • Assure the final diagnoses and operative procedures as stated by the physician are valid and complete • Abstract necessary information from health records to identify secondary complications and co-morbid conditions • Evaluate records for documentation consistency and adequacy ensuring final diagnosis reflects care and treatment rendered • Compute and provide correct DRG coding for all inpatient cases • Provide training and guide other coders/Medical Records Technicians in coding and update them with new coding rules and regulations • Analyze doctors’ documentation to ensure appropriate Evaluation and Management (E&M) levels are assigned using correct CPT codes • Ensure coding is as per HAAD guidelines and regulations • Provide feedback to doctors regarding coding errors or oversights • Constantly update to the latest coding versions and HAAD coding directives • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned • Perform any other jobs or duties assigned by the HOD within scope of job title • Comply with OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital management • Work in accordance with documented OSH procedures and instructions • Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures • Notify OSH hazards, incidents, near misses and assist with preparation of risk assessments and incident reports • Comply with waste management procedures and policies • Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs • Use appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems • At least two (2) years of coding experience • Valid Certified Coding Associate (CCA) certification from AHIMA or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification from AAPC • Computer literacy, MS Office • Excellent command of oral and written English • Ability to work constructively and interact professionally with others • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, adjust to changing priorities and work within deadlines • Achievement of core objectives in line with management and stakeholder expectations
