Job description

The Junior Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day transactional accounting across the Group's operating entities: customer invoicing, receipts, bank entries, vendor bills and payment follow-ups. The role keeps billing and records current every day, ensures every invoice issued and every bill recorded is VAT-compliant, and supports the Senior Accountant with reconciliations, month-end schedules and ledger reconciliations as needed • Customer invoicing: Raise customer invoices in the accounting system promptly and accurately, ensuring there is no billing backlog. • VAT on invoices: Ensure every tax invoice issued meets UAE VAT requirements and raise credit notes where required. • Receipts: Issue formal payment receipts to customers and accurately apply incoming payments against the correct outstanding invoices. • Bank entries: Record and post daily bank transactions from bank statements to the correct accounts, with minimal supervision. • Vendor bills: Review and record vendor invoices, checking that each is a valid tax invoice with the supplier's TRN and correct VAT amount before posting, and matching to the relevant agreement or approval. • Petty cash: Record petty cash expenses and maintain supporting vouchers and receipts. • Follow-ups: Follow up systematically on overdue customer payments and pending vendor bills, and keep receivable and payable ageing up to date to support steady cash flow. • Records: Maintain organised soft and hard-copy files of invoices, receipts, bills and supporting documents for VAT and audit purposes. • Support to Senior Accountant: Prepare reconciliation working files, extract ledger and statement reports, investigate assigned discrepancies, gather supporting documents and assist with month-end schedules and closing. • Escalation: Flag unusual transactions, mismatches or unidentified receipts to the Senior Accountant promptly. • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. • 2–4 years of hands-on operational accounting or bookkeeping experience in the UAE. • Working knowledge of UAE VAT. • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Zoho (or similar ERP systems), Microsoft Office. • High numerical accuracy, attention to detail, ability to meet daily deadlines, proactive communication, and a self-starter who is willing to learn.
