EV Technician (Electric Vehicle)

• Perform routine maintenance tasks on electric vehicles, including battery checks, fluid inspections, and tire rotations. • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues in EV systems, such as battery management systems, electric motors, and charging systems. • Conduct repairs and replacements of faulty components, ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards. • Conduct thorough inspections of EVs to identify any potential issues or safety concerns. • Document findings and recommendations for repair or maintenance work. • Perform software updates and programming for EV systems, including firmware updates and recalibration of electronic control units (ECUs). • Ensure all software updates are completed accurately and safely. • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. • Adhere to manufacturer recommendations and industry best practices for EV maintenance and repair. • Communicate effectively with the Service Advisor to explain repair procedures, provide estimates, and address any questions or concerns. • Provide exceptional customer service and strive to exceed customer expectations. • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed on EVs. • Minimum education: ITI certificate, vocational diploma or technical diploma in Electric Vehicle Technology, Automotive Technology, Automotive Electrical Systems, Mechatronics or a related technical discipline. • Relevant hands-on experience in diagnosing, repairing and maintaining electric vehicles, particularly Chinese vehicle brands. • Ability to follow wiring diagrams, manufacturer instructions, approved software procedures and high-voltage safety controls. Certifications and licences • Required before high-voltage duties: recognised EV high-voltage safety and safe isolation training appropriate to the assigned work, with practical competency verification and company authorisation. • Preferred: manufacturer or accredited EV service, battery diagnostics, charging system and diagnostic tool training, particularly for Chinese vehicle brands.
