Electrical Design Engineer - Solar

• Develop electrical designs for solar PV projects, including utility-scale, rooftop and ground-mounted installations. • Prepare and review Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), electrical layouts, cable routing, cable schedules, equipment sizing and electrical design calculations. • Perform DC/AC system sizing, inverter selection, transformer sizing, voltage drop, short-circuit, load flow and protection coordination calculations. • Design and review PV module layouts, string configurations, inverter arrangements, AC/DC distribution systems, earthing, lightning protection and cable sizing. • Prepare technical specifications, BOQs, material requisitions and equipment datasheets for solar electrical systems. • Ensure compliance with applicable IEC standards, local utility requirements, project specifications and international electrical codes. • Coordinate with civil, structural, mechanical, procurement and project execution teams to ensure design integration and timely project delivery. • Review vendor drawings, technical submittals and equipment specifications, and provide technical support during procurement and construction. • Liaise with clients, consultants, utilities and other stakeholders for design approvals, technical clarifications and project requirements. • Support site installation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and preparation of as-built documentation. • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. • Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in electrical design and engineering, preferably within solar PV / renewable energy EPC projects. • Strong experience in solar PV electrical design, engineering calculations, SLDs, equipment sizing and technical documentation. • Hands-on knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, earthing and grid interconnection. • Proficiency in AutoCAD and electrical design tools such as ETAP, PVsyst and other relevant engineering software. • Good knowledge of IEC standards, utility requirements and electrical design practices. • Middle East / GCC experience is preferred. Exposure to African renewable energy projects will be an added advantage. • Excellent coordination, analytical, communication and problem-solving skills.
