Director - Energy Electrical Projects

• Set long term plan and strategy for DUBAL, Emal & Shaheen Power Plant • Review annual budget, quality procedures, enquiries for service contracts and spares for electrical, I&C and operations departments • Review routine, preventive overhaul and emergency maintenance of all electrical equipment at power plants • Review and issue guidelines for contingency/emergency procedures and spare parts for all three plants; conduct RCA and performance studies • Review and optimise plant electrical protection concepts, design and settings; coordinate protections with Emirates National Grid divisions and external utilities (ADWEA, GASCO, ADWEC, DEWA, ENEC, FEWA, IPP) • Ensure integrity of complete system and business case for critical high value projects within power and water generation, rectification, transmission and protection systems • Represent organisation at industry conferences and exhibitions to shape division strategy • Review strategic plan, annual budgets and long term cost estimations for Electrical Maintenance across three plants • Perform cost-benefit analysis for improvements and review enquiries/orders related to multiple departments before submission • Review technical reports and plant data; provide recommendations regarding electrical equipment load flow and fault levels • Lead and support root cause analysis for breakdowns and recommend remedial measures for electrical & I&C equipment • Provide technical guidance to Projects, Engineering and Commissioning on electrical issues; suggest measures for older equipment and spares • Oversee preventive, overhaul and emergency maintenance activities of electrical equipment in generating stations • Generate technical reports to support management decision making for optimum plant operation • Review electrical discipline documents for upcoming projects (mainly protection concepts) and verify adherence to contractual specifications • Coordinate with internal departments, contractors, consultants, manufacturers and suppliers on electrical-related jobs • Assist other departments in preparation of technical specifications and evaluate offers • Participate in management review meetings related to quality, safety and environment and in monthly electrical team meetings • Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information • Follow and adhere to EHS Management System Manual and EGA safety standards • Perform other job-related duties as required • Knowledge of power generation and desalination main and auxiliaries electrical equipment and protection design, deployment, operation and maintenance • Familiarity with quality/safety/environment management systems per relevant ISO guidelines • Experience in strategic planning, manpower planning, long term planning, budgeting and budget controls of a large process control plant or power utility • Ability to coordinate with national grid and external utilities and stakeholders • Strong technical reporting and engineering judgement • Experience leading teams and driving strategy
