• JOB DESCRIPTION – SPECIALTY COFFEE BARISTA Reports to: Café Manager / Supervisor Job Purpose Prepare and serve high-quality specialty coffee and other beverages, provide excellent customer service, and maintain consistent standards of preparation, presentation, and cleanliness. Key Responsibilities • Prepare espresso-based beverages, including espresso, cappuccino, latte, and flat white, according to approved recipes. • Dial in espresso daily by adjusting grind size, dose, yield, and extraction time to achieve the required flavour and consistency. • Prepare manual brews, including V60, following established recipes. • Steam milk correctly and produce consistent latte art. • Understand the coffee selection, including origins, processing methods, roast profiles, and tasting notes. • Explain menu options and recommend suitable coffees based on customer preferences. • Take and serve orders accurately and efficiently while maintaining friendly, professional service. • Operate the point-of-sale system and process cash and card payments accurately. • Clean and maintain coffee machines, grinders, brewing equipment, utensils, and work areas. • Monitor stock levels, rotate supplies, check expiry dates, and report shortages. • Control waste without compromising beverage quality. • Follow food safety, hygiene, and allergen-handling procedures. • Complete opening and closing duties and promptly report equipment faults. • Work closely with colleagues to maintain efficient service during busy periods. • Previous experience in specialty coffee cafés is essential. Experience in general cafés alone is not sufficient. • Previous experience working in specialty coffee cafés in GCC countries is preferred . • Strong practical knowledge of espresso extraction, grinder adjustment, and coffee quality control. • Proficiency in milk steaming and latte art. • Experience with manual brewing methods, particularly V60. • Knowledge of coffee origins, processing methods, roast profiles, and flavour characteristics. • Barista training or certification, such as SCA certification, is an advantage. • Food safety training or certification is preferred.
