Job title Specialist Electrical Function OMT OQBI Department Maintenance Location Oman-Salalah Reporting to Manager Electrical M&A Job purpose Provides Technical support to the Electrical team in troubleshooting electrical equipment, attend emergency jobs (call in/stand by) & liaise with vendors for specific joint works in electrical maintenance services for Salalah, under Manager Electrical M&A scope s. This role is guided in accordance with the OQBI Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategies, as well as policies, guidelines, and both local & international standards. It is supported by an IT Technology platform, HSSE standards, Omani government regulations, legal justifications, and best international practices. All these elements are aligned with the national objectives of Oman. Main tasks and responsibilities Technical Evaluation: Conduct thorough technical evaluations of electrical spare parts, equipment, and materials to determine performance standards and ensure suitability for maintenance requirements. Project Commissioning: Provide specialized electrical support during the commissioning of new projects, ensuring integration with existing systems and compliance with project specifications. Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Lead and participate in complex troubleshooting of electrical equipment, ensuring that issues are resolved according to OEM specifications and industry standards. Compliance & Safety: Strictly adhere to work permit protocols, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures, and relevant safety standards during all maintenance and troubleshooting activities. Bad Actors List & Mitigation: Participate in meetings to address recurring electrical failures (Bad Actors), developing mitigation plans and recommending solutions for persistent issues. On-the-Job Training (OJT): Collaborate with the OJT program to support the development and refinement of specific electrical maintenance tasks for junior engineers and team members. Document Control: Oversee the usage, maintenance, and archiving of critical electrical documentation in substations, ensuring proper documentation management practices. Vendor & Supplier Collaboration: Coordinate with external contractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure timely and effective delivery of electrical maintenance services and related joint works. Preventive Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance & Equipment Reliability: Assist in the development and execution of preventive maintenance strategies, ensuring the operational reliability of electrical systems and equipment. Maintenance procedures: Able to develop and review Electrical Maintenance procedure, Checklists, task lists. Failure Analysis & Improvement: Lead investigations into electrical system failures, providing recommendations for system improvements and preventive measures to avoid future breakdowns. Project Support & Planning: Assist in electrical project planning, ensuring cost-effective execution of electrical maintenance activities in alignment with project timelines. HSE Compliance: Ensure that all electrical maintenance work adheres to Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) standards and regulations. Electrical Safety Procedure: Support in Electrical Competency assessment and Electrical Safety Authorization Process. Key interactions Internal: All Maintenance Managers & Engineers, Planners, Operations, Procurement, Logistic & HSE External: Contractors, Vendors & Suppliers Notable Working Conditions. Field Operations and office environment, Moderate to intensive computer use. Education requirements Minimum Qualifications for this position Diploma or bachelor s degree in electrical engineering or similar Language requirements Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required) Arabic - Native (desirable) Background and experience Bachelor: 5+ years of relevant experience Diploma: 7+ years of relevant experience Both: Knowledge of Refinery and Petrochemical industry electrical work. Knowledge of IEC standards, ATEX directives area classification and Ex Equipment Background in electrical maintenance best practices. Experience with High voltage switchgears, UPS/BC, motors, Drivers Variable speed drives, soft starters, Transformers, process heaters and power Generation and distribution system Experience in in equipment failure Analysis and develop mitigation plans Electrical SLDs, wiring diagrams and other electrical project documents. Management of Change (MOC) procedure and technical review of MOC Experience and knowledge in electrical Maintenance installation, trouble shooting, and start-up. Knowledge Technical specifications, and international standards. Knowledge of: o Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) o Expertise in SAP- PM o Electrical equipment Life-Cycle Management Knowledge in operating and maintaining the reliability of equipment. Knowledge in Quality Assurance, Quality Control and HSE plans. Knowledgeable in implementation of HSE plans, Electrical safety procedure in electrical maintenance activities. Understanding of Electrical Drawings, operating philosophies, wiring diagrams and electrical project document and OEM manuals.
