industrial water treatment, desalination and wastewater treatment plants.
The successful candidate must be capable of independently performing mechanical
engineering calculations, reviewing equipment designs, preparing technical specifications,
and coordinating fabrication, inspection and installation activities.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Design & Engineering
• Perform mechanical design and engineering for water treatment equipment and packaged
systems.
• Prepare and review equipment General Arrangement Drawings (GAD), fabrication drawings
and mechanical datasheets.
• Design and review pressure vessels, atmospheric tanks, filters and skid-mounted
equipment.
• Perform mechanical calculations for vessels, tanks, supports, nozzles and equipment
foundations.
• Prepare pump selection calculations, equipment loading data and mechanical
specifications.
• Develop and review piping layouts, piping isometrics and material specifications.
• Review pipe support arrangements, equipment accessibility, maintenance clearances and
lifting requirements.
• Coordinate mechanical engineering inputs for 3D plant models.
Equipment & Fabrication Engineering
• Prepare and review fabrication drawings for:
➢ Carbon steel and stainless steel pressure vessels.
➢ GRP/GRE/FRP tanks and piping systems.
➢ Skid-mounted treatment equipment.
➢ Structural supports, platforms, ladders and access arrangements.
➢ Pump and chemical dosing packages.
• Review welding procedures, WPS/PQR, material certificates and fabrication inspection
requirements.
• Coordinate technical requirements with suppliers and fabrication teams.
• Review vendor drawings, technical deviations, and material substitutions.
• Support manufacturing inspections, FAT, hydrotesting and equipment acceptance.
Project Engineering & Site Support
• Coordinate with process, piping, structural, electrical and instrumentation engineering
teams.
• Review mechanical interfaces between equipment, pipingmand civil structures.
• Prepare material take-offs (MTO), bills of materials (BOM) and technical procurement
specifications.
• Respond to client engineering comments and technical queries.
• Support site mechanical erection, piping installation, pre-commissioning and
commissioning.
• Review as-built drawings and final mechanical documentation.
Technical Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 8–10 years of mechanical design and engineering experience, preferably in water
treatment EPC projects.
• Strong working knowledge of:
➢ ASME Section VIII – Pressure Vessel Design.
➢ ASME B31.3 – Process Piping.
➢ API 650 – Welded Storage Tanks, where applicable.
➢ AWWA and ASTM standards for water treatment equipment and piping.
➢ GRP/FRP fabrication and relevant ASTM standards.
• Experience with AutoCAD and 3D engineering software such as Plant 3D, SolidWorks, or
equivalent.
• Ability to perform mechanical engineering calculations and independently review fabrication
drawings.
• Good understanding of welding, NDT, hydrotesting, material selection, and corrosion
protection.
• Strong technical communication and documentation skills.
Candidate Profile
We require a hands-on mechanical design engineer, not solely a maintenance engineer, site
supervisor or CAD draftsman.
The candidate must have proven experience in mechanical design, engineering calculations,
fabrication coordination and technical documentation for industrial equipment or water
treatment plants.
Experience working for an EPC contractor, pressure vessel manufacturer, skid fabricator or
water treatment equipment OEM will be strongly preferred.
