Job description

About the role Join the Analytics function of a Dubai-based physical crude oil and petroleum products trading and shipping group as its Corporate Finance team expands. You will build the shipping P&L from scratch and improve how the business measures fleet performance. This role calls for someone who can challenge existing ways of working and build better models and data flows. What you will do • Build the shipping P&L model from scratch by voyage, vessel and fleet; design its architecture and automate data collection within the methodology set by the Head of Analysts. • Analyse freight revenue, time charter equivalent (TCE), operating expenses, dry-docking, off-hire and utilisation; compare estimates with actual results and explain variances. • Prepare investment cases for vessel acquisitions and sales, chartering options and their financing. • Build the shipping business budget and cash flow forecast as inputs to the group model. • Work with Chartering, Fleet Operations, Treasury and Shipping Accounting to obtain and validate data and resolve gaps. Requirements • At least five years in financial analysis, financial modelling or corporate finance. • Bachelor's or Master's degree in finance, economics or a related field. • Structured analytical thinking and a track record of solving non-standard problems with incomplete data. • Hands-on experience building integrated three-statement models (P&L, balance sheet and cash flow), DCF valuations and asset-level investment cases from scratch, and adapting models as inputs change. • Advanced Excel, including Power Query and Power Pivot; ability to design data models and improve a complex existing model without interrupting regular reporting. • Working knowledge of tanker shipping economics, including voyage, time and bareboat charters, TCE, vessel operating expenses, laytime and demurrage. • Strong corporate finance and financial management knowledge, including valuation, financing, working capital and budgeting. • Ownership of decisions in your area and the ability to obtain and validate the data you need. • Fluent written and spoken English. Preferred qualifications • Russian language skills are a strong advantage. • Experience with a shipowner, ship manager or chartering company, in bank ship finance, or in shipping advisory or transaction services. • Background in Big 4 or Big 3 consulting, investment banking or private equity. • CFA, CPA, ACCA, MBA, MSc in Shipping or Maritime Economics (completed or in progress), or ICS qualification. • VBA, Python or SQL skills; experience with 1C or other ERP data.
