Senior Draftsman – Power Projects Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates Department: Operations – Power Projects Reporting to: Design Manager / Project Manager Industry: Power Transmission & Distribution | HV/EHV Substations About the Role Antal International is seeking an experienced Senior Draftsman – Power Projects for a leading organization operating in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The successful candidate will be responsible for independently preparing and developing civil and electrical drawings for power infrastructure projects, particularly high-voltage (HV) and extra-high-voltage (EHV) substations . The role involves 2D drafting, 3D Building Information Modelling (BIM), multidisciplinary design coordination, and the preparation of construction, shop and as-built drawings in accordance with approved designs, technical specifications and client requirements. Candidates with direct experience working on 132kV substation projects in the UAE or Saudi Arabia are particularly encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities • Independently prepare civil and electrical drawings for power projects, particularly HV/EHV substations. • Develop substation equipment layouts, cable trench layouts, cable routing, earthing layouts, equipment foundations, structural drawings and associated infrastructure drawings. • Prepare detailed shop drawings, construction drawings, sections, details and as-built documentation based on approved designs and Issued for Construction (IFC) documents. • Develop, modify and maintain 2D drawings using AutoCAD and 3D BIM models using Revit. • Coordinate civil, structural, electrical and MEP drawings and models to ensure consistency across disciplines. • Perform BIM coordination, model reviews and clash detection using Revit, Navisworks or equivalent software. • Liaise with design engineers, project engineers, consultants and site teams to resolve technical queries and drawing interface issues. • Review drawings and BIM models for accuracy, completeness, constructability and compliance with project specifications and client requirements. • Incorporate design revisions, Requests for Information (RFIs) and client or consultant comments while maintaining proper document control. • Ensure timely delivery of drawings, BIM deliverables and final as-built documentation. • Comply with company health, safety, security and quality requirements. Qualifications & Experience • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, CAD/Drafting or a related technical discipline. • 8–10 years of relevant drafting or design experience , preferably within power transmission and distribution projects. • Proven experience working on HV/EHV substation projects. • Experience preparing multidisciplinary civil and electrical drawings. • Candidates with direct exposure to 132kV substations in the UAE or Saudi Arabia will be preferred. • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit is essential; experience with Navisworks or equivalent BIM coordination tools is an advantage. Technical Skills & Competencies • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD. • Practical experience with Revit and 3D BIM modelling. • Working knowledge of Navisworks and BIM coordination. • Ability to independently prepare civil and electrical drawings for substation projects. • Knowledge of substation layouts, equipment foundations, cable trenches, cable routing, earthing systems and associated civil/structural works. • Experience preparing shop drawings, construction drawings and as-built documentation.
