Job description

Objective: The Senior Buy-Side Financial Analyst plays a critical role in driving investment performance by conducting deep fundamental and quantitative research across public market securities (Equities and Fixed Income). Reporting directly to the Fund Manager / Head of Investments, the Senior Analyst generates high-conviction investment ideas, builds complex financial models, and prepares actionable buy/sell/hold recommendations aimed at enabling the fund to consistently outperform its target benchmarks. Key Tasks: 1. Fundamental Research & Stock/Credit Selection Conduct rigorous bottom-up fundamental analysis on listed companies, sovereign/corporate issuers, and sector trends across Omani (MSX) and GCC public markets. Build, maintain, and stress-test three-statement financial models, DCF valuations, dividend discount models, peer multiple analyses, and credit risk models (yield/spread dynamics). Formulate high-conviction buy, hold, and sell investment recommendations designed to generate alpha and support benchmark-outperforming portfolio construction. 2. Macroeconomic & Industry Trend Analysis Perform top-down macroeconomic research, monitoring interest rate shifts, central bank policies, inflation trends, and regional fiscal policies to identify sector rotation opportunities. Monitor global, GCC, and local Omani market developments, corporate earnings releases, and regulatory updates to assess immediate and long-term portfolio impacts. 3. Portfolio Monitoring & Attribution Support Track the operational and financial performance of existing fund holdings against thesis expectations, benchmark constituents, and earnings targets. Conduct performance attribution analysis, evaluating factor exposures, tracking errors, and downside risk metrics to support portfolio rebalancing decisions. 4. Investment Committee & Issuer Engagement Draft detailed, institutional-grade investment research notes and present actionable trade ideas to the Investment Committee. Participate in earnings calls, management meetings, analyst days, and corporate site visits to evaluate leadership capability and corporate governance standards. 5. Carry out other related duties and responsibilities as required. Technical and Soft Skills: Financial Modeling & Valuation: Advanced mastery of complex financial modeling, valuation techniques (DCF, DDM, SOTP, Multiples), and credit/fixed income metrics (duration, yield-to-maturity, credit spreads). Benchmark & Portfolio Analytics: Strong grasp of portfolio risk concepts, tracking error, factor analysis, and how individual security selection contributes to benchmark outperformance. Financial Analytics Tools: High proficiency with institutional platforms such as Bloomberg Terminal, FactSet, Morningstar, Capital IQ, or Barra. Regulatory Context: Familiarity with Oman Financial Services Authority (FSA) regulations, Muscat Stock Exchange (MSX) disclosure rules, and GCC capital market frameworks. High-Conviction Synthesis: Ability to condense massive amounts of financial and qualitative data into concise, persuasive investment memos. Critical Thinking & Intellectual Independence: Courage to hold non-consensus views, defend investment theses under rigorous questioning, and acknowledge thesis changes objectively. Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to data accuracy, accounting nuances, financial note disclosures, and quantitative modeling. Time Management under Market Deadlines: Ability to prioritize coverage during earnings seasons and volatile market conditions. Experience / Knowledge: Total Experience: 5+ years of direct experience as a Buy-Side or Sell-Side Investment Analyst, Equity/Credit Research Analyst, or Asset Management Specialist. Buy-Side Focus: Minimum of 2 3 years specifically on the buy-side, with a demonstrable track record of contributing to successful stock/bond recommendations that beat sector or index benchmarks. Asset Class Exposure: Direct experience covering GCC/MENA public equities, regional sovereign/corporate bonds, or Sukuk. Multi-asset coverage is a strong plus.
