Purpose :
The Safety Officer is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies to ensure a safe and compliant working environment. The role ensures adherence to company safety standards and local regulatory requirements while promoting a strong safety culture across the organization.
Responsibilities:
1. Safety Compliance & Implementation
Ensure compliance with local occupational health and safety regulations and company policies.
Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions.
Monitor adherence to safety procedures and safe work practices.
2. Risk Assessment & Hazard Control
Conduct risk assessments and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
Recommend corrective and preventive actions to mitigate risks.
Follow up on implementation of corrective actions.
3. Incident Management
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses.
Prepare detailed incident reports with root cause analysis.
Recommend and monitor corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
4. Safety Training & Awareness
Conduct safety inductions for new employees and contractors.
Deliver toolbox talks and safety awareness sessions.
Promote continuous improvement in safety culture.
5. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain safety records, reports, and compliance documentation.
Prepare monthly HSE reports and performance statistics.
Ensure permits to work (PTW) are properly issued and controlled.
6. Emergency Preparedness
Participate in emergency response planning and drills.
Ensure availability and proper maintenance of fire and safety equipment.
Coordinate with emergency services when required.
Qualification :
NEBOSH IGC or equivalent safety certification preferred.
Knowledge of local safety regulations and standards.
Strong knowledge of safety regulations and risk assessment techniques.
Excellent observation and inspection skills.
Strong reporting and documentation abilities.
Good communication and training skills.
Ability to influence and promote a safety culture.
Problem-solving and analytical skills.
