Job description
**Job Title:** Radiology Technologist / Radiologic Technologist
**Department:** Radiology / Diagnostic Imaging
**Reports To:** Radiologist / Medical Director / Department Head
**Location:** Elite Medical Center, Doha, Qatar
1\. Job Purpose
To perform diagnostic imaging examinations safely and accurately, ensuring high\-quality images for interpretation by radiologists and physicians while maintaining patient safety, comfort, confidentiality, and compliance with applicable healthcare regulations and facility policies.
2\. Key Responsibilities
* Perform radiographic examinations as requested by authorized physicians.
* Verify patient identity, examination request, clinical information, and relevant medical history before performing procedures.
* Explain imaging procedures to patients and provide appropriate instructions and reassurance.
* Position patients correctly to obtain diagnostic\-quality images while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
* Operate X\-ray and other assigned radiology/imaging equipment safely and efficiently.
* Select appropriate technical parameters according to the examination and patient condition.
* Review images for technical quality and repeat examinations only when clinically/technically necessary.
* Follow radiation protection principles and maintain radiation exposure **As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA)**.
* Use appropriate personal protective equipment and radiation protection devices.
* Maintain accurate patient and examination records in the RIS/PACS or other designated systems.
* Ensure proper labeling, storage, transmission, and documentation of diagnostic images.
* Assist with contrast\-enhanced examinations when authorized and trained, following established protocols and monitoring requirements.
* Recognize and immediately report adverse reactions or patient emergencies and provide appropriate assistance within the scope of practice.
* Maintain infection prevention and control standards, including appropriate cleaning and disinfection of equipment and examination areas.
* Check imaging equipment regularly and report equipment faults, malfunction, or maintenance requirements promptly.
* Maintain adequate supplies and report shortages to the responsible supervisor.
* Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with medical records and data protection requirements.
* Coordinate effectively with radiologists, physicians, nurses, reception staff, and other healthcare professionals.
* Participate in quality assurance, quality improvement, equipment safety checks, and departmental audits.
* Follow the medical center's policies, procedures, clinical protocols, and safety requirements.
* Maintain professional competence through continuing education and relevant training.
* Perform other duties related to radiology services as assigned by management or the department head.
3\. Patient Safety Responsibilities
* Confirm the correct patient and correct examination before commencing the procedure.
* Assess relevant pregnancy status where applicable and follow facility protocols.
* Apply radiation safety principles for patients, staff, and visitors.
* Use appropriate exposure parameters to minimize unnecessary radiation.
* Ensure safe patient transfer and positioning, particularly for elderly, pediatric, disabled, or critically ill patients.
* Escalate any clinical concern or unexpected patient condition to the appropriate physician.
4\. Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Radiologic Technology, Medical Imaging, Radiography, or an equivalent recognized qualification.
* Valid professional registration/licence appropriate to the scope of practice.
* Relevant clinical experience in diagnostic radiology/imaging is preferred.
* Current training/certification in radiation safety and relevant clinical competencies is preferred.
5\. Skills and Competencies
* Strong knowledge of radiographic procedures and imaging techniques.
* Good understanding of radiation protection and patient safety.
* Ability to operate radiology equipment effectively.
* Good patient\-care and communication skills.
* Attention to detail and ability to produce high\-quality diagnostic images.
* Ability to work effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
* Good computer skills, including familiarity with PACS/RIS.
* Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately to emergencies.
* Strong commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical practice.
* Good organizational and time\-management skills.
Pay: QAR4,000\.00 \- QAR5,000\.00 per month
