Job description

The QAQC Engineer is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance and quality control systems across all carpentry, joinery, and fit\-out manufacturing activities. The role ensures that all products, materials, and workmanship comply with approved drawings, specifications, client requirements, applicable standards, and company quality procedures. ##### **Key Responsibilities:** **1\. Quality Assurance (QA) Responsibilities** * Develop, implement, and maintain **Quality Management Systems (QMS)** in line with ISO 9001:2015 or company standards. * Prepare and update **Quality Plans, Method Statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)** for joinery and fit\-out works. * Ensure QA procedures cover all stages of manufacturing, including material procurement, fabrication, finishing, packing, and delivery. * Coordinate internal audits and assist during external audits by clients, consultants, or certification bodies. * Review project specifications, drawings, BOQs, and client requirements to identify quality requirements and risks. * Establish quality objectives and monitor performance through KPIs and quality reports. * Promote a quality\-driven culture across production and project teams. **2\. Quality Control (QC) Responsibilities** * Conduct **incoming material inspections** for timber, boards, veneers, laminates, hardware, finishes, adhesives, and accessories. * Verify compliance of materials with approved submittals, samples, and technical data sheets. * Perform **in\-process inspections** during cutting, machining, assembly, veneering, laminating, finishing, polishing, and pre\-installation mock\-ups. * Inspect final products to ensure compliance with approved shop drawings, samples, tolerances, and finish quality. * Monitor workmanship quality for factory\-made and site\-installed joinery and fit\-out items. * Ensure proper calibration and use of measuring and inspection tools. * Identify non\-conformities and issue **NCRs (Non\-Conformance Reports)** where required. * Follow up on corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and verify their effectiveness. **3\. Project \& Site Coordination** * Liaise with Project Managers, Production Managers, Factory Supervisors, and Site Engineers on quality matters. * Coordinate inspections with consultants, clients, and third\-party inspectors. * Support factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site inspections prior to delivery or installation. * Ensure quality compliance during site installation, rectification works, and snag clearance. * Assist in preparation of **handover documents**, warranties, and quality dossiers when required. **4\. Documentation \& Reporting** * Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, approvals, NCRs, and corrective actions. * Prepare **Inspection Requests (IRs)** and ensure timely approvals. * Compile quality reports, dashboards, and monthly summaries for management review. * Control quality\-related documents and ensure only approved revisions are in use. * Maintain records for traceability of materials and workmanship. **5\. Compliance \& Standards** * Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ASTM, BS, EN, local authority requirements). * Ensure products meet fire rating, environmental, sustainability, and safety requirements where applicable. * Monitor compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements related to materials and finishes (e.g., VOC, fire\-retardant treatments). **6\. Continuous Improvement** * Analyze recurring defects and quality issues to identify root causes. * Propose improvements to manufacturing processes, materials, and inspection methods. * Support training of production and site teams on quality requirements, workmanship standards, and best practices. * Participate in lessons\-learned sessions after project completion. ##### **Qualifications \& Experience****:** **Education** * Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in **Civil Engineering, Wood Technology, Industrial Engineering**, or related field. **Experience** * Minimum **7–10 years** of experience in QAQC within **carpentry, joinery, or fit\-out manufacturing**. * Proven experience in factory and site quality control for bespoke joinery and interior fit\-out projects. ##### **Skills \& Competencies****:** * Strong knowledge of carpentry, joinery materials, finishes, and fabrication processes. * Ability to read and interpret **shop drawings, details, specifications, and BOQs**. * Familiarity with ISO 9001 and quality auditing principles. * Attention to detail and strong analytical skills. * Excellent documentation and report\-writing skills. * Good communication and coordination skills with multidisciplinary teams. * Proficient in MS Office and basic quality management software/tools. ##### **Working Conditions** * Based in manufacturing facility with regular visits to project sites. * May require overtime or extended hours during project deadlines. * Exposure to factory environments, woodworking machinery, and construction sites. **Job Category:** Production / Factory Operations **Job Type:** Full Time **Company:** Almuftah Carpentry **Location:** Qatar
