Pumping Station Pipe Fitter

• Install, maintain, and repair piping systems for pumping stations, ensuring efficient fluid transfer. • Assemble and connect pipes, valves, and fittings using welding, brazing, and threading techniques. • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately lay out and install pipework. • Perform hydrostatic testing and other pressure tests to verify the integrity of installed piping. • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with pumps, valves, and associated piping, implementing effective solutions. • Operate and maintain specialized tools and equipment used in pipefitting, such as pipe benders and cutters. • Adhere to strict safety protocols and environmental regulations during all work activities. • Conduct routine inspections of piping systems to identify potential leaks, corrosion, or wear. • Replace worn or damaged pipe sections, valves, and fittings with precision and efficiency. • Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to ensure seamless integration of piping systems with station equipment. • Possession of a relevant trade qualification or apprenticeship in pipefitting or a related field. • Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience specifically in industrial piping, preferably in water or wastewater pumping stations. • Certification in relevant welding processes (e.g., SMAW, GTAW) is highly advantageous. • Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and isometric views. • Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, pressure systems, and material compatibility for piping. • Demonstrated ability to safely operate and maintain a variety of pipefitting tools and heavy equipment. • Excellent problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to diagnosing and repairing system failures. • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a demanding operational environment. • Good physical condition, including the ability to lift heavy materials and work in confined or elevated spaces. • Effective communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly report on work status and issues.
