Pharmacist

• Dispense medications to inpatient as per prescription. • Review and interpret each prescription/medication order before dispensing to ascertain correctness of strength, dose instructions and dosage form. • Provide patient counseling and appropriate patient information concerning dispensed medications. • Clarify any prescription abnormality with the prescribing physician and refer unresolved problems to the chief pharmacist. • Supervise the repackaging, labeling and documentation of medications issued to other departments. • Answer drug related inquiries received from doctors, nurses and customers, and refer uncertain answers to the chief pharmacist. • Assist in the training of new pharmacists and pharmacy staff as directed by the chief pharmacist. • Perform specialty pharmacy activities as delegated and trained. • Responsible for medicine stock, monitoring near-expiry medicines and updating controlled medicine register daily. • Perform other miscellaneous duties as directed by the chief pharmacist. • Follow appropriate international guidelines, DHA regulations & Joint Commission International norms while treating or managing patients and while discharging professional duties. • Hold an appropriate license to work as a registered nurse in the relevant regulatory health authority with required qualifications and experience (note: likely intended as pharmacist license requirement). • Manage own professional re-licensure. • Hold a valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider card. • Willingness to work across departments when necessary. • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and written). • Evidenced ability to work as part of an inter-professional team (desirable). • Organizational and administrative skills to use electronic medical record platform for clinical documentation (desirable). • Ability to communicate effectively in Arabic (desirable).
