Lab Technologist (Histotechnology)

• Prepare microscopic tissue slides from patient samples, ensuring precise tissue embedding, sectioning, and mounting for accurate diagnostic evaluation. • Perform routine and special stains on tissue sections, meticulously following protocols to highlight cellular structures and identify abnormalities. • Operate and maintain sophisticated laboratory equipment such as microtomes, cryostats, and automated stainers, ensuring optimal performance and calibration. • Process tissue samples through various stages, including fixation, dehydration, clearing, and infiltration, to preserve tissue integrity for microscopic examination. • Handle hazardous chemicals and biological specimens with utmost care, adhering strictly to safety protocols and waste disposal procedures. • Troubleshoot staining issues and technical problems, implementing corrective actions to maintain slide quality and diagnostic reliability. • Assist pathologists during gross examination of specimens, accurately describing and orienting tissues for further processing. • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all procedures performed, patient information, and quality control data. • Participate in quality assurance programs, performing proficiency testing and documenting results to ensure adherence to laboratory standards. • Collaborate effectively with pathologists, clinicians, and other laboratory personnel, communicating findings and contributing to patient care. • Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain microtomes, cryostats, and tissue processors. • Strong understanding of tissue fixation, processing, embedding, and sectioning techniques. • Ability to work independently and manage workload efficiently in a fast-paced environment. • Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity for precise manipulation of delicate tissues. • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for clear reporting and collaboration. • Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with advancements in histotechnology.
