Based at the Emirates palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi within the Engineering Department, the Kitchen Technician is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all kitchen equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted kitchen operations. Conduct preventive maintenance, respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, and ensure all equipment is maintained in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, safety standards, and hotel engineering procedures. Coordinate with Culinary and Stewarding teams to minimise operational disruption, maintain accurate maintenance records, and support the overall efficiency and reliability of kitchen operations. The Kitchen Technician reports to the Kitchen Engineer.
As Kitchen Technician, you will be responsible for the following duties:
• Attends to repair and maintenance of all types of kitchen equipment.
• Carry out electric arc or oxy-acetylene welding.
• Attends to pipe repairs or fitting work including minor plumbing work.
• Responding to unscheduled work requests within 15 minutes of receipt of the same.
• Ensuring that the supplied uniform is clean and in good repair. Always maintain a clean and tidy appearance before entering public areas.
• Ensuring that the plant room, workshop and related areas are kept clean and tidy condition.
• Observing prescribed safety standards. Helping maintain safe conditions for self and others.
• Performing related duties and special projects as assigned.
• Interacts with other departments when necessary to provide additional or specialized services for functions, promotions and festivities.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the same role in hospitality environment
• Self-motivated with a hands-on and flexible approach
• Knowledge of Kitchen equipment repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques for combi ovens, other cooking equipment, preparation equipment, refrigeration equipment and dishwashing equipment
• Knowledge in the operation of electrical control systems
• Ability to diagnose and resolve problems and use hand and power tools
• Ability to use hand and power tools
