Job description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Technical Manager to lead the technical delivery of complex interior fit-out projects. The role combines technical oversight, multidisciplinary coordination, commercial awareness and team leadership to ensure that design information is accurate, buildable, compliant and delivered to programme. Working across the full project lifecycle, you will connect design, procurement and site operations, resolve technical challenges early and help teams deliver quality outcomes without compromising design intent, cost or contractual requirements. Responsibilities: Driving technical delivery: • Take ownership of technical coordination across multiple projects, ensuring design information is complete, consistent, practical and ready for construction. • Oversee the preparation, checking and submission of drawings, BIM models, material proposals, calculations, samples, mock-ups, coordination packages, schedules and final as-built information. • Identify design conflicts, missing information and technical risks early, coordinating solutions with the relevant project teams. • Maintain clear records of technical decisions, revisions, approvals and their implications for cost, programme and delivery. • Improve the way technical information is produced, reviewed and shared, making effective use of digital design and coordination tools. Connecting people and protecting project outcomes: • Act as a key technical contact for clients, designers, consultants, contractors, specialist trades, suppliers and external partners. • Work alongside project, construction, commercial, planning and quality teams to keep design decisions aligned with site conditions and contractual obligations. • Contribute technical input during tender and pre-construction stages, evaluating alternative solutions for practicality, compliance, value and alignment with the client's brief. • Manage technical correspondence and ensure queries, requests for information and design discrepancies are resolved efficiently. • Challenge proposals that could compromise quality, approved design, compliance or budget, ensuring potential changes are assessed and documented before implementation. Leading the technical team: • Direct the work of technical coordinators, materials specialists, BIM professionals and CAD personnel assigned to projects. • Set priorities, allocate workloads and monitor progress to ensure the team meets agreed deadlines and quality standards. • Coach team members, share technical knowledge and encourage better ways of working. • Promote a supportive, accountable team culture where people collaborate, take ownership and have opportunities to develop professionally. • Encourage practical innovation, sound engineering judgement and cost-conscious decision-making. Measuring performance and improving delivery: • Review project and team performance against agreed technical, quality and delivery targets. • Monitor submission schedules, approval rates, documentation accuracy, contractual compliance, query turnaround times and coordination efficiency. • Assess the technical team's contribution to budget management and timely project delivery. • Investigate missed targets and performance gaps, explain significant deviations and implement corrective measures. To be considered you must have: Experience and qualifications: • A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Interior Design or a related discipline. • At least 15 years of experience in interior fit-out contracting. • Strong understanding of construction methods, fit-out detailing, material selection and the practical requirements of site delivery. Technical and professional capability: • Confident use of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint, with a good working understanding of BIM processes. • The ability to interpret technical information, evaluate design alternatives and turn complex problems into workable solutions. • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to coordinate stakeholders across different disciplines. • Experience leading technical teams, setting priorities and managing multiple projects and deadlines. • A structured, detail-conscious approach to documentation, quality assurance and contractual compliance. • The foresight to identify risks early, make sound decisions and keep technical delivery moving. • An understanding of performance indicators and how to use them to improve quality, productivity and project results.
