Job description

• Reports through the chain of command to the Supervisor. • Responds swiftly and safely to all emergency calls and requests for assistance, dealing with emergencies as directed while working safely and efficiently as a member of a disciplined team. • Maintains all emergency equipment in a state of operational readiness, including cleanliness, testing, and repairs as required to approved standards and procedures. • Undertakes checks on emergency resources provided for ERT use, including fire hydrants and other fixed fire detection and suppression installations. • Participates in continuous training and development programs by attending lectures, exercises, simulated incidents, practice drill sessions, courses, and other training activities to achieve and maintain competency. • Maintains a satisfactory level of personal fitness, hygiene, appearance, and uniform cleanliness appropriate to the duties of a Fire Marshal. • Participates in training courses for EGA employees, including Fire Warden and Fire Induction programs. • Performs salvage operations, including protecting affected plant and equipment following incidents and removing water and debris. • Cleans and inspects equipment and apparatus after returning from incidents. • Inspects equipment and apparatus and reports any defects or deficiencies to ERT Management. • Carries out minor repairs, routine preventive maintenance, and maintains records of all maintenance activities. • Keeps the fire station, equipment, and surrounding grounds clean and orderly. • Acquires and maintains a thorough knowledge of the plant, including topography, buildings, plant risks, firefighting water supplies, unusual hazards, and related facilities. • Records inspections, training activities, fire incidents, and emergency calls in the relevant logbooks. • Performs all duties and activities in accordance with EGA policies and procedures. • Works safely, reports unsafe conditions and activities, and complies with EGA Safety policies, accident prevention, reporting, and monitoring requirements. • Develops and maintains a comprehensive understanding of activities across all plant areas. • Conducts fire inspections, audits, fire risk assessments, and pre-incident planning. • Carries out testing, inspection, and maintenance of fire protection and detection systems and equipment in accordance with departmental procedures, ensuring all records are accurately maintained. • Assists medical staff with casualty handling when required. • Qualifications & Skills Minimum Qualifications: • NFPA Firefighter I & II (NFPA 1001) or equivalent (JOIFF/IFE Graduate Certificate) • HAZMAT Awareness (NFPA 472) • HAZMAT Operations (NFPA 472) • First Aid – Highfield Level 3 Minimum Experience: • At least 2 years of experience in a Government or Industrial Fire Department, or • At least 2 years of experience in a Fire Safety/Engineering role, or • An equivalent combination of the above experience. Skills: • Reasonable fluency in written and spoken English.
