Job description

About the Role We run our own in-house ERP system (JavaScript/React front-end, Node.js back-end, SQL database), and we're looking for a hands-on Software Engineer with 2+ years of experience to take ownership of it — maintain, stabilize, extend, and improve the existing platform. This is not a "build from scratch" role — you'll be stepping into a live, working system that runs real business operations, so you need to be someone who can quickly understand an existing codebase, fix what's broken, and confidently ship new features without heavy hand-holding. We need someone who can genuinely make it work — someone comfortable owning a module end-to-end, debugging tricky production issues, and making sound decisions independently. Key Responsibilities • Understand, maintain, and extend our existing in-house ERP codebase (React front-end + Node.js back-end + SQL database). • Take ownership of assigned ERP modules (e.g., Inventory, Sales, Finance, HR, Procurement) — fix bugs, improve performance, and add new features. • Debug and resolve production issues quickly, including data inconsistencies and workflow failures. • Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and schema changes as business needs evolve. • Build and maintain REST APIs in Node.js/Express to support ERP workflows. • Improve and maintain React components/UI used across ERP modules. • Work directly with business/operations teams to understand real-world requirements and translate them into working features. • Ensure data integrity, proper access control, and system stability as the ERP evolves. • Write clean, maintainable, well-documented code so the system stays easy to extend. • Test changes thoroughly before deployment to avoid disrupting live business operations. Required Skills & Qualifications • 2+ years of hands-on professional experience with JavaScript, React, and Node.js. • Strong working knowledge of SQL — writing queries, understanding schemas, joins, and basic optimization (MySQL/PostgreSQL/MSSQL). • Experience building/maintaining REST APIs with Node.js (Express or similar). • Comfortable reading and working within an existing codebase — not just greenfield development. • Practical understanding of ERP-style business logic (inventory, invoicing, approvals, roles/permissions) — or the ability to pick it up fast. • Strong debugging skills — able to trace issues across front-end, back-end, and database layers. • Familiarity with Git for version control. • Self-driven and able to work with minimal supervision once ramped up on the codebase. Nice to Have • Prior experience maintaining or extending an existing/custom ERP system (not just building new ones). • Experience with ORMs like Sequelize , Prisma , or TypeORM . • Familiarity with basic deployment/hosting (VPS, cloud, Docker). • Experience with TypeScript . • Exposure to reporting/dashboards within a business system. Soft Skills • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking. • Ability to understand complex business processes and translate them into technical solutions. • Good communication skills to work with cross-functional/non-technical stakeholders. • Attention to detail — ERP systems require high data accuracy.
