Job Title: Inspector - Coating & Painting
Salay + FAT will be provided, for both onshore and offshore projects
Office / Department : Abu Dhabi IND
Reporting to Team Leader
Key Working Relationship IND Manager Project Manager Team Leader Technical Manager / Deputy Technical Manager Customers / Clients / Project Management Consultants
He is expected to establish direct contact with Client and whenever necessary with other group companies.
Minimum Required Qualifications
NACE / CSWIP / British Gas Painting / Painting inspector Grade II or an approved equivalent.
Inspector Coating & Painting - For 3 year Diploma-more than 12 years industrial QA/QC 3 LPE coating systems, Coating, Painting and Insulation.
For 10 year bachelor degree- more than 3 years industrial QA/QC Coating, Painting and Insulation in Oil & Gas.
Senior Coating & Painting Inspector - 15 years experience in the Oil and Gas Industry with minimum of 5 years in Pipe coating, and field joint inspection. 3LPP and concrete coating experience
Education
Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or HNC
Training
NACE / CSWIP / British Gas Painting / Painting inspector Grade II or an approved equivalent.
Technical knowledge
Strong knowledge of the International Codes & Standards such as ASME, API, ANSI, ASTM and BS.
Experience with Painting/Coating Inspection according to relevant Codes.
Application of Codes and standards, project specifications and procedures.
Experience
Minimum 10 years experience in similar field
Responsibilities / Authorities / Accountabilities
• Review and comment / approve contractors Painting, coating & wrapping procedures.
• Carry out inspection of surface profile, chloride contamination test as per applicable standards.
• Monitor weather and equipment condition during Painting, coating operation
• Ensure that paint materials are used from approved paint manufacturers with valid pot life.
• Ensure that the application of coating is carried out as per the technical data-sheet of the manufacturer and approved painting specification.
• Ensure that proper time intervals between intermediate coats for proper chemical and mechanical bonding.
• Witness / checking of Dry Film Thickness and Holiday detection / Pin hole detection s and Ensure that calibrated testing equipment is used.
• Monitor surface preparation, application of bonding agent, elastomer, wrapping and curing operation (for Neoprene coating) on riser pipes / clamps.
• Witness post curing tests such as hardness, spark test, sound test, adhesion test, visual and dimensional check etc. on riser pipes / clamps.
• Monitor surface preparation, application of CTE coating and post curing tests on pipeline.
• Monitor surface preparation, application of heat shrink sleeves, holiday tests on field joints.
• Monitor surface preparation, wrapping (Servi wrap M 30 B), holiday detection and doping on offshore pipeline.
Technical Expertise
Strong knowledge of the International Codes & Standards such as ASME, API, ANSI, ASTM and BS.
Experience with Painting / Coating Inspection according to relevant Codes.
Application of Codes and standards, project specifications and procedures.
Within his field of competency, the inspector is expected to conduct the activities stated in Primary functions.
Fully conversant with relevant inspection techniques and able to select the most appropriate inspection technique.
Able to verify and approve Non-conformities / corrective actions
Able to identify required Bureau Veritas interventions, based on a pre-defined Quality Plan and according to specified standards.
Able to review / appraise inspection procedures'
