Job description

The 2nd Watchkeeping Engineer plays a crucial role in maintaining the operational readiness of the Cutter Suction Dredger. They assist the Chief Engineer in overseeing the engine room and ensuring the vessel's mechanical systems are in optimal condition. This position requires a high level of technical expertise and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. RESPONSABILITIES: Assist the Chief Engineer in managing the engine room and mechanical systems. Monitor and maintain the performance of the dredging engine and its components. Conduct regular inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability. Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues, implementing timely solutions. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment. Oversee the proper storage and handling of fuel and other hazardous materials. Coordinate with other departments to optimize vessel operations and performance. Maintain accurate records and documentation of engine room activities. * Provide training and guidance to junior engineers and deckhands as needed. QUALIFICATIONS: A valid 2nd Engineer's license or equivalent certification is a plus. Extensive experience as a 2nd Engineer on similar vessels. In\-depth knowledge of marine engineering principles and practices. Strong troubleshooting and problem\-solving skills. Excellent communication and leadership abilities. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure. Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and procedures. Proficiency in basic computer applications for record\-keeping. * Willingness to work in a dynamic and challenging maritime environment.
