TORCHER / WATERPROOFING APPLICATOR 1\. Position Overview Job Title: Torcher / Waterproofing Applicator Department: Field Operations / Site Execution Objective: Execute high\-quality manual field application of bituminous torch\-applied membranes, self\-adhesive membranes, liquid coatings, and insulation materials on roofs, basements, wet areas, and substructures in strict accordance with project specifications, safety protocols, and daily site production targets. 2\. Key Responsibilities \& Core Competencies Surface Preparation \& Substrate Setup Inspect, clean, and prepare concrete surfaces prior to application by removing dust, laitance, oil, and sharp protrusions. Apply specified asphaltic/solvent primers evenly across substrates using rollers or sprayers, ensuring appropriate drying/curing times before membrane installation. Treat critical details, expansion joints, pipe penetrations, internal corners, and upstands with reinforced angle fillets and extra detail strip layers. Torch\-Applied Membrane \& System Installation Professionally operate LPG torch equipment, burners, regulators, and hoses to heat and roll modified bitumen membranes (APP/SBS) safely and evenly. Ensure uniform compound melting during unrolling to achieve full substrate adhesion, proper bead outflow, and watertight seal integrity. Form and execute neat, fully sealed side overlaps (minimum 80–100 mm) and end overlaps (minimum 150 mm) using specialized trowels and flaming techniques. Install accompanying system layers including protection boards, drainage sheets, geotextiles, and thermal insulation boards as instructed by the Site Engineer. Quality Maintenance, Repair \& Water Testing Conduct immediate visual inspections of completed seams, laps, and detail work to identify and seal any unbonded edges, pinholes, or air blisters. Perform surface repairs, patching, and torch adjustments promptly upon instruction from the Site Engineer or QC Inspector. Assist in setting up dams and water containment barriers for mandatory 24–48 hour flood testing protocols. Equipment Maintenance \& HSE Compliance Perform daily safety checks on gas cylinders, pressure regulators, hoses, torches, and fire extinguishers prior to igniting open flames. Maintain, clean, and store all company\-issued tools, torch equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE) responsibly. Strictly adhere to site Safety Protocols, Hot Work Permit conditions, fire prevention measures, working\-at\-height harness rules, and confined space guidelines. 3\. Minimum Qualifications \& Requirements Education: High School Diploma, Vocational Technical Training, or apprenticeship in trade construction skills. Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven experience as a certified Torcher / Applicator within the waterproofing or roofing contracting industry. Skill \& Trade Mastery: Expert proficiency in operating LPG torch equipment, flame control, compound melting, seam sealing, and applying bituminous/polyurethane waterproofing systems. Physical Capability: Physically fit and capable of enduring manual heavy labor, bending, lifting equipment, working outdoors in high ambient temperatures, and working at heights or in basement excavations. Safety Awareness: Demonstrable knowledge of open\-flame safety, gas cylinder handling, fire hazard prevention, and site hazard recognition. Language \& Teamwork: Basic communication skills in English, Arabic, or Hindi/Urdu to follow instructions clearly from site engineers and foremen. Work Location: In person
