Job description

We are looking for an Telecom Commissioning Engineer DWDM & IP/MPLS who is Responsible for the installation, configuration, testing, commissioning, migration, troubleshooting, and acceptance of telecom infrastructure systems, with primary focus on DWDM/OTN networks and working knowledge of IP/MPLS systems. The engineer shall carry out site implementation activities, optical link testing, commissioning, service migration, fault investigation, documentation, team coordination, and HSE compliance. Key Responsibilities: • Install, configure, test, and commission DWDM/OTN equipment, including transponders, muxponders, amplifiers, mux/demux units, protection modules, and optical supervisory channels. • Perform wavelength provisioning, channel assignment, optical power balancing, and end-to-end optical path verification. • Measure and validate transmit power, receive power, span loss, insertion loss, OSNR, attenuation, and optical link margins. • Perform optical fiber testing using OTDR, optical power meter, light source, OSA, optical attenuator, and related test equipment. • Carry out optical link optimization, fault isolation, loopback testing, BER testing, protection switching, redundancy testing, and service restoration. • Perform equipment installation, rack mounting, fiber patching, cabling, grounding, DC power connection, labeling, and site readiness verification. • Carry out service migration, cutover, configuration backup, rollback, and post-migration testing. • Configure and verify alarms, performance parameters, equipment status, and network connectivity through the applicable NMS. • Perform basic IP/MPLS verification, including Ethernet interfaces, VLANs, IP connectivity, routing, MPLS services, alarms, logs, and redundancy. • Prepare test procedures, commissioning reports, migration records, configuration details, red-line drawings, and acceptance documents. • Supervise technicians and subcontractors and ensure compliance with project quality and HSE requirements. • Coordinate with OEM engineers for specialized technical activities when required. • Bachelor s degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, or a related field. • Relevant DWDM/OTN or optical network certification is preferred. • Huawei, Nokia, Cisco, or equivalent certification is an advantage. • UAE driving licence is mandatory. • Minimum five years of experience in telecom installation, testing, commissioning, migration, or maintenance. • Strong hands-on experience with DWDM/OTN systems, preferably Huawei OptiX OSN 1800/9800 /Nokia PSS 1830. • Practical experience in optical power balancing, wavelength provisioning, OSNR verification, protection switching, and optical troubleshooting. • Hands-on experience using OTDR, OSA, optical power meter, light source, attenuator, Ethernet tester, and BER tester. • Working knowledge of IP/MPLS routers, switches, Ethernet services, and network integration. • Experience in FAT, SAT, service migration, system acceptance, technical reporting, and team supervision. • Experience in utility, power, oil and gas, railway, or other critical infrastructure projects is preferred. • Note: This role requires strong practical experience in active DWDM/OTN systems. Candidates with experience limited only to fiber installation, structured cabling, RF, or microwave systems will not be considered.
