Job description
The Steel Doors & Hardware Coordinator is responsible for preparing accurate quotations, developing door hardware schedules and shop drawings, coordinating technical requirements with project teams, and sourcing specialized architectural hardware and related products from local and overseas suppliers. The role ensures that all steel door, frame, and hardware packages comply with project specifications, client requirements, and industry standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
Quotation & Costing
• Prepare quotations for steel doors, door frames, door hardware, and accessories based on client inquiries and project requirements.
• Review project specifications, drawings, and door schedules to ensure complete and accurate pricing.
• Recommend suitable door hardware and accessories that meet project specifications and client requirements.
• Coordinate with the Sales and Estimation teams to provide timely and competitive quotations.
Technical Coordination
• Prepare door elevation shop drawings using PROE or AutoCAD based on approved door and hardware schedules.
• Develop and coordinate final door hardware schedules to ensure compatibility with doors, frames, and related architectural works.
• Verify door size, thickness, handing, hardware function, fire rating, and finish in accordance with project requirements.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and internal departments to resolve technical queries and ensure compliance with approved specifications.
Procurement & Supplier Coordination
• Communicate with overseas and local suppliers to obtain quotations, technical data, product availability, and lead times.
• Source specialized products such as washroom accessories, roof hatches, special door hardware, and other architectural hardware items.
• Compare supplier quotations and recommend cost-effective products that comply with project specifications.
• Maintain supplier correspondence and technical documentation.
Documentation & Quality
• Maintain accurate records of quotations, shop drawings, hardware schedules, technical submittals, and supplier communications.
• Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted within project deadlines.
• Assist in preparing technical submittals and supporting documents for client and consultant approval.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to estimation, documentation, and technical coordination.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in steel doors, architectural hardware, or a related construction or manufacturing industry.
• Experience in preparing quotations, shop drawings, and hardware schedules is preferred.
• Knowledge of fire-rated doors, steel doors, and architectural door hardware is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or PROE for preparing shop drawings.
• Ability to interpret architectural and construction drawings.
• Knowledge of steel doors, door frames, door hardware, and related accessories.
• Familiarity with hardware scheduling, technical submittals, and construction documentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
