**Job Description**

We are seeking an experienced **Technical Director** to lead and coordinate all technical activities for a major high\-speed rail project in the United Arab Emirates.
The Technical Director will be responsible for the technical leadership, coordination and integration of the project’s civil works, railway systems, rolling stock and operational requirements throughout the design, construction, testing and commissioning phases.
The successful candidate will ensure that all technical solutions are delivered in accordance with contractual requirements, applicable railway standards, safety and regulatory requirements, project programme objectives and client expectations.
**Main Responsibilities**

* Define, develop and implement the overall technical strategy for the project.
* Lead the coordination and integration of all project technical disciplines, including civil works, track systems, signalling, telecommunications, power supply, overhead catenary systems, rolling stock, depots and railway operations.
* Manage technical interfaces between consortium partners, joint\-venture partners, designers, subcontractors, suppliers, the client, the Engineer and relevant government or regulatory authorities.
* Oversee design development, design coordination, technical reviews and multidisciplinary design validation.
* Lead system integration activities and ensure compatibility between infrastructure, railway systems, rolling stock and operational requirements.
* Oversee system assurance, RAMS, safety certification and regulatory approval processes.
* Ensure that technical solutions comply with contractual obligations, required performance levels, operational requirements and whole\-life cost objectives.
* Identify, assess and manage technical risks, design changes, deviations, non\-conformities and technical opportunities.
* Lead the resolution of major multidisciplinary technical issues and complex system\-integration challenges.
* Provide technical input to the project management team regarding project planning, cost control, claims, procurement, construction methodology and delivery strategy.
* Support the evaluation and selection of technical solutions, suppliers, subcontractors and specialist service providers.
* Coordinate testing and commissioning activities, trial operations, performance demonstrations and final system acceptance.
* Ensure that technical documentation, design deliverables, calculations, specifications and reports are produced, reviewed and approved in accordance with the project requirements.
* Build, lead, manage and develop a multidisciplinary team of technical managers, discipline leads and engineers.
* Maintain effective communication with senior project stakeholders and provide clear reporting on technical progress, risks, interfaces and major decisions.
**Candidate Profile**

* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or another relevant technical discipline.
* Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in railway, transportation infrastructure or major multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
* Significant experience working on high\-speed rail, mainline railway, metro or other complex integrated railway systems.
* Proven experience in a senior technical leadership position within a major rail or transportation project.
* Strong experience in multidisciplinary technical coordination and railway system integration.
* Demonstrated knowledge of RAMS, system assurance, safety assurance and railway certification processes.
* Strong understanding of the complete project lifecycle, including design, construction, installation, testing, commissioning, trial operations and final acceptance.
* Experience managing technical interfaces between civil works, track, railway systems, rolling stock, depots and operations.
* Experience working with international contractors, consortiums, joint ventures, clients, consultants and regulatory authorities.
* Previous experience on major design\-and\-build or EPC projects is highly desirable.
* Previous experience working in the Middle East is highly desirable.
* Strong leadership, team\-management and decision\-making capabilities.
* Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder\-management skills.
* Ability to manage complex technical challenges within a demanding, multicultural project environment.
* Fluent written and spoken English is required.
