Job description

We are seeking a DHA‑licensed Specialist Ophthalmologist with strong expertise in anterior segment ophthalmology to join our clinical team in Dubai. Given the operational needs of the department, this role requires a specialist who can reliably and consistently manage both inpatient (IP) and outpatient (OP) clinical and surgical activity. The successful candidate will support continuity of care across all service areas and contribute to stable, well‑balanced clinic and surgical workflows. This position is best suited to a clinician with solid dual‑setting experience, who is comfortable operating across OP clinics, procedural lists, and IP care pathways. Key Responsibilities Deliver specialist‑level ophthalmology care with a focus on anterior segment conditions and surgery Diagnose and manage cataracts, corneal disorders (including keratoconus, dystrophies, and infections), and anterior uveitis Perform anterior segment surgical procedures including cataract extraction, pterygium excision, intraocular lens implantation, and related interventions Manage both outpatient and inpatient ophthalmology services, including pre‑operative, operative, and post‑operative care Ensure continuity and reliability of coverage across OP clinics and IP services, in line with departmental workflow requirements Conduct vision assessments and prescribe glasses and contact lenses as clinically appropriate Interpret diagnostic investigations such as corneal topography and anterior segment OCT Prescribe and administer ophthalmic medications and maintain accurate, compliant medical records Counsel patients on treatment options, risks, outcomes, and preventive eye care Collaborate with referring physicians and multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless continuity of care Participate in clinical audits, CME activities, and quality improvement initiatives Contribute to teaching, education, or research activities where applicable DHA‑licensed Specialist in Ophthalmology with subspecialty expertise in anterior segment surgery Minimum 5 years post‑qualification specialist experience, including consistent exposure to both OP and IP settings Demonstrated ability to manage dual OP and IP responsibilities with steadiness and clinical reliability Strong surgical competence across anterior segment ophthalmology with a patient‑centred approach Confident in building and maintaining a patient base within a private healthcare environment Team‑oriented, adaptable, and committed to clinical excellence Fluent in English (spoken and written); Arabic is an advantage Valid Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support certification Academic publications or research involvement are advantageous but not mandatory Minimum Qualifications MBBS / MBChB or equivalent medical degree from an accredited institution Completion of a recognised specialty qualification approved by DHA / HAAD / MOH (UAE) Strong communication skills and computer literacy
