Job description
Seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with 12+ years of experience in the supervision, coordination, and delivery of mission-critical mechanical systems for large-scale data center projects. The role will be responsible for overseeing HVAC, cooling, plumbing, fire protection, and fuel systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and operational reliability requirements.
Your role
• Supervise mechanical construction activities for data center projects, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of HVAC systems, chilled water networks, cooling plants, and air distribution systems.
• Monitor the installation and performance of CRAH, CRAC, in-row cooling, and other mission-critical data center cooling systems.
• Review mechanical shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and technical submissions.
• Coordinate mechanical works with civil, structural, architectural, electrical, ICT, and specialist contractor activities.
• Conduct site inspections and quality audits to verify workmanship, material compliance, and adherence to project standards.
• Monitor installation of plumbing, drainage, fuel oil, and fire protection systems, ensuring compliance with local regulations and project specifications.
• Review pressure testing, flushing, cleaning, and pre-commissioning activities for mechanical systems.
• Witness and verify Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing (TAB) activities to ensure systems achieve required operational performance.
• Support testing and commissioning activities, integrated systems testing (IST), and operational readiness reviews.
• Identify and resolve mechanical design, construction, and interface issues in coordination with project stakeholders.
• Ensure contractor compliance with project quality requirements, safety procedures, and construction schedules.
• Monitor contractor progress, resources, and productivity, identifying risks and recommending corrective actions where required.
• Review mechanical inspection requests and maintain QA/QC records, site observations, and non-conformance reports.
• Participate in multidisciplinary coordination meetings and provide technical recommendations on mechanical engineering matters.
• Support authority inspections, client walkthroughs, snagging activities, and final project handover.
• Prepare progress reports, technical assessments, and project status updates for client and consultant management teams.
About you
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• UPDA/MMUP Grade A
• Data Center Experience [at least 1 project is delivered in the last 5 years] Mandatory.
• 12+ years of experience.
• HVAC, chilled water, cooling systems, CRAH/CRAC or data centre cooling, plumbing, fire protection, fuel systems, pressure testing, TAB, commissioning and MEP coordination.
• Data centre or mission-critical cooling experience preferred.
