Job description
Position: Senior Mechanic ( ReadyMix ) Department: Workshop/Maintenance Job Purpose The Senior Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining ready-mix trucks, concrete pumps, trailers, and related heavy equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. The role supports fleet availability, reduces downtime, and ensures all maintenance work is completed to company and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Perform preventive, proactive, corrective, and reactive maintenance on trucks and heavy equipment. Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, powertrain, hydraulic brake systems, air brake systems, ABS, EBS, suspension, steering, and automation systems. Inspect vehicles and equipment to identify faults, wear, damage, and unsafe conditions. Overhaul and reassemble major components such as engines, hydraulic systems, and driveline parts. Evaluate repaired equipment before release to operations. Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and repair documentation. Coordinate with foremen and supervisors to minimize vehicle downtime. Follow safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, and environmental regulations. Provide technical support to mechanics and junior mechanics when required. Required Skills Strong knowledge of diesel engines and heavy vehicle systems. Good understanding of troubleshooting and repairs in engines and transmissions. Experience with ready-mix trucks, concrete pumps, trailers, and mobile equipment. Ability to read manuals, schematics, and diagnostic reports. Basic skills in welding, fabrication, and power tools. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work independently and lead the team. Qualifications and Experience Diploma, ITI, or technical certificate in automotive, diesel, or mechanical engineering preferred. 5 7 years of experience in heavy vehicle or ready-mix maintenance. Experience in workshop operations and fleet maintenance is an advantage. Valid driving license would be an advantage. Working conditions include workshop and field breakdown repair environment. May require shift work, overtime, and emergency callouts. Physical work involves lifting, climbing, crawling, and working in dusty or hot conditions.
