Job description

**The project:** This project offers the chance to join a talented Mace team in delivering a major entertainment and luxury hospitality project, collaborating with renowned architects and global consultants. The project involves extensive infrastructure and built assets, delivered rapidly through a hands\-on construction management approach, which is ideal for those experienced in managing both main and subcontract packages. Mace is seeking an experienced senior environmental manager to support the delivery of a major programme in Saudi Arabia. This is a senior site\-based role responsible for leading all environmental management activities across a complex marine and island development environment. The successful candidate will provide environmental leadership throughout construction, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, project requirements and international best practice standards. The role requires a hands\-on environmental professional with extensive experience managing environmental risks associated with marine, coastal, dredging, reclamation, waterfront, and island developments, while working closely with contractors, consultants, authorities and project stakeholders. **You’ll be responsible for:** * Manage the implementation and management of the project's environmental strategy, management plans and compliance requirements. • Provide environmental oversight across marine, coastal, island, infrastructure and construction activities. • Monitor contractor environmental performance and ensure compliance with environmental permits, approvals and regulatory obligations. • Review and approve environmental management plans, construction environmental plans, method statements and monitoring programmes. • Manage environmental risks associated with marine ecosystems, coastal habitats, dredging, reclamation and nearshore construction activities. • Conduct regular environmental inspections, audits and site assessments to ensure compliance with project standards. • Supervise investigations into environmental incidents, non\-conformances and complaints, ensuring timely corrective actions are implemented. • Coordinate environmental monitoring programmes including marine water quality, sediment control, ecology and biodiversity requirements. • Engage with environmental authorities and regulatory agencies on permitting, reporting and compliance matters. • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams, contractors and consultants on environmental issues and best practices. • Promote environmental awareness and sustainability initiatives across all aspects of project delivery. • Monitor and report environmental performance, risks and compliance status to senior project leadership. • Support the management of stakeholder concerns relating to environmental impacts and mitigation measures. • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and environmental performance enhancements across the project. • Ensure environmental requirements are fully integrated into construction planning, delivery and operational readiness activities. **You’ll need to have:** * A degree qualification in environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related discipline. • Extensive environmental management experience on major infrastructure, construction or development projects. • Proven experience managing environmental requirements on marine, coastal, island or waterfront developments. • Strong understanding of environmental regulations, permitting and compliance requirements within the Middle East. • Experience managing environmental consultants, contractors and specialist advisors. • Strong knowledge of marine ecology, environmental monitoring and mitigation measures. • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. • Experience working within PMC, client\-side or major programme environments. • Necessary visa criteria for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and relevant work experience working on high\-valued projects/programmes for a project management consultancy business, which are required for immigration and client approval. **Our values** **Safety first \- Going home safe and well:** We champion a safe, diverse, and inclusive working environment, understanding the importance of well\-being in every team. **Client focus \- Deliver on our promise:** We own the quality of deliverables and strategic outcomes and build long\-term relationships with our clients. **Integrity \- Always do the right thing:** We influence positive outcomes within our industry while always aligning with our compliance obligations. **Create opportunity \- For our people to excel:** We champion a continuous improvement culture throughout all activities, inspiring our people and teams to develop.
