Senior Accountant

Job Title: Senior Accountant – RetailJob Summary The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the full accounting cycle of the retail business, ensuring accurate financial records, compliance with UAE regulations, and timely financial reporting. The role supports management by providing financial insights, cost control, and proper monitoring of sales, inventory, VAT, and expenses. Key Responsibilities **Accounting \& Financial Reporting** * Manage the complete accounting cycle (GL, AP, AR, bank reconciliations). * Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. * Ensure accurate posting of sales, returns, discounts, and cost of goods sold (COGS). * Maintain fixed asset register and calculate depreciation. **Retail \& Inventory Accounting** * Monitor daily sales reports and reconcile POS data with accounting records. * Track inventory movements, stock valuation, and cost analysis. * Coordinate with store and warehouse teams on stock discrepancies and adjustments. * Oversee inventory counts and stock audits. **VAT \& Compliance (UAE)** * Prepare and file VAT returns in compliance with UAE Federal Tax Authority (FTA) regulations. * Ensure proper VAT treatment for sales, purchases, and expenses. * Maintain VAT documentation and support audits and inspections. **Budgeting \& Cost Control** * Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts. * Analyze variances between actual and budgeted figures. * Monitor operating expenses and recommend cost\-saving measures. **Cash Flow \& Banking** * Manage cash flow, supplier payments, and customer collections. * Reconcile bank, credit card, and cash accounts. * Coordinate with banks on facilities, guarantees, or financing if required. **Audit \& Internal Controls** * Support internal and external audits. * Ensure adherence to company policies and internal control procedures. * Identify financial risks and recommend improvements. **Team Coordination** * Supervise and guide junior accountants or accounts assistants. * Coordinate with purchasing, sales, HR, and operations teams. * Report directly to Finance Manager / General Manager / Owner. Qualifications \& Experience * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. * Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, CMA) is an advantage. * Minimum **5–7 years** accounting experience, preferably in **retail or FMCG**. * Strong knowledge of **UAE VAT** and retail accounting practices. Skills \& Competencies * Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks). * Strong Excel and reporting skills. * High attention to detail and accuracy. * Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks. * Strong analytical and communication skills. * Leadership and team\-handling ability.
