American Lyceum International School, Muscat, is seeking an experienced, committed and results\-oriented **School Principal** to oversee the overall management and academic leadership of its Nursery and Primary sections. The Principal will be responsible for maintaining high standards of teaching and learning, managing school operations, leading staff, supporting student development and ensuring a safe, positive and professional school environment. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong leadership, effective communication and the ability to manage both academic and administrative functions. Key ResponsibilitiesAcademic Leadership * Lead the effective implementation of the British Curriculum across Nursery and Primary sections. * Maintain high standards of teaching, learning, assessment and student progress. * Monitor classroom practices through regular observations, lesson reviews and academic evaluations. * Review curriculum plans, lesson plans and assessment records. * Analyse student performance and implement appropriate improvement plans. * Ensure age\-appropriate, engaging and inclusive learning practices. * Support teachers in improving instructional quality and classroom management. School Management * Oversee the day\-to\-day academic and administrative operations of the school. * Ensure school policies, procedures and operational standards are consistently followed. * Develop and monitor the school calendar, schedules, duties and academic activities. * Coordinate admissions, student placement, attendance and school records. * Ensure effective utilisation of classrooms, resources and school facilities. * Identify operational issues and take timely corrective action. * Provide regular reports and updates to school management. Staff Leadership and Development * Lead, supervise and evaluate teaching and administrative staff. * Participate in staff recruitment, induction and performance management. * Conduct regular staff meetings and professional development sessions. * Set clear performance expectations and hold staff accountable for results. * Support teachers through coaching, mentoring and constructive feedback. * Promote teamwork, professionalism and a positive workplace culture. * Address staff performance, conduct and attendance issues appropriately. Student Welfare and Discipline * Promote a safe, respectful and supportive learning environment. * Ensure effective safeguarding and child protection practices. * Monitor student behaviour, attendance, wellbeing and academic development. * Manage student discipline matters fairly and consistently. * Work with teachers and parents to address academic, behavioural or developmental concerns. * Ensure Nursery and Primary practices remain age\-appropriate and child\-centred. Parent and Community Engagement * Maintain professional and constructive relationships with parents. * Address parent concerns, complaints and feedback in a timely and effective manner. * Conduct parent meetings, orientations and school events. * Communicate student progress and school expectations clearly. * Support admissions, parent engagement and student retention initiatives. * Represent the school professionally within the local community. Quality Assurance and Compliance * Ensure compliance with applicable education, health, safety and safeguarding requirements in Oman. * Maintain accurate academic, administrative and student documentation. * Conduct regular reviews of school performance and operational effectiveness. * Support inspections, audits and regulatory visits. * Implement improvement plans based on performance data, parent feedback and management direction. * Ensure consistent implementation of school standards across all departments. Qualifications and Experience * Bachelor’s degree in Education or a relevant field. * Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership or School Management is preferred. * Recognised teaching qualification. * Minimum of **5 years of teaching experience**. * Minimum of **3 years of experience in a school leadership or management position**. * Experience within a British Curriculum school is strongly preferred. * Experience managing Nursery, Early Years or Primary sections is preferred. * Previous experience in Oman or the GCC education sector will be an advantage. Required Skills and Competencies * Strong school leadership and people\-management skills. * Sound understanding of the British Curriculum and early\-years education. * Strong academic monitoring and quality\-assurance capabilities. * Effective decision\-making and problem\-solving skills. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Strong parent\-handling and conflict\-resolution abilities. * Ability to manage multiple academic and operational priorities. * Professional, organised and accountable working style. * Proficiency in English. * Competence in using school management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
