Job description

• The Risk Management Officer is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all risk and safety efforts across the facility, including budgeting, program design, delivery, and evaluation. The role involves establishing a strategic vision supporting organizational continuity and safeguarding against risks. Success involves effective risk mitigation, maintaining compliance, and fostering a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. What You Will Do: Managing the Department • Provide leadership, vision, and strategy to the department. • Develop, implement, and evaluate departmental goals, objectives, and programs. • Develop a comprehensive facility-wide risk and safety program for business continuity. • Identify and analyze loss exposure; implement plans to minimize liability and asset losses. • Coordinate administrative and clinical activities within the department. • Prepare long and short-term fiscal budget and resource allocation plan. Occupational Health and Safety • Provide leadership and guidance to improve emergency response and risk perception. • Develop and maintain a management plan for emergency response and recovery. • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate occupational disease screening and prevention. • Design and ensure delivery of pre-employment medical reviews and visa medical assessments. • Implement and manage health promotion programs. • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements. • Track, analyze, and train staff on safety and accident prevention. Interdepartmental Coordination • Deliver occupational health and safety services across all departments. • Collaborate with groups like DHA, Facility Management, Security in investigations and assessments. • Plan, implement, and coordinate emergency response plans with all departments. Developing Standards and Procedures • Develop standards, procedures, and protocols for health and safety and emergency preparedness. • Identify areas for process improvement and assist in development plans. • Promote continuous improvement in health and safety services. • Identify and manage risks to the organization. • Determine interventions based on assessment data. • Develop or revise programs to meet organizational requirements. Compliance and Quality Assurance • Develop and maintain risk and safety policies to manage resident risks. • Conduct inspections to comply with accreditation and regulatory standards. • Ensure a hazard-free environment according to local codes and standards. • Coordinate risk management data collection and analysis. • Facilitate proactive risk reduction using tools like Failure Mode Effect Analysis. Staff Management • Identify staff education requirements related to occupational health and safety. • Ensure orientation and ongoing educational needs are met. • Communicate and collaborate in the delivery of health and safety services. • Act as a staff and patient advocate. • Represent health and safety on interdisciplinary committees. Committee Leadership • Serve as chairperson on relevant safety and disaster planning committees. • Coordinate emergency planning services and educate staff on roles during emergencies. • Maintain liaison with local authorities, Fire Department, etc. • Ensure updated policies on shared folders and communicate to senior management. Policy Compliance and Personal Effectiveness • Consistently comply with facility's policies and those of DHA. • Complete regulatory requirements, including licensure and certifications. • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with facility policy. • Promote customer service standards and serve as a brand ambassador. • Recognize the necessity of continuous skill development. • Build key partnerships within the organization. • Required Skills To Be Successful: • Excellent command of oral and written English. • Competency in interpersonal communication with healthcare professionals. • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. • Advanced proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. What Qualifies You For The Role: • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Science or Nursing. • Master's degree in Management or Healthcare Sciences. • Minimum 5 years of experience in a healthcare setting, with team management experience. • Proficiency in investigation tools, root cause analysis, and quality improvement programs.
