Publishing Operations Manager **Company:** 1980 Books **Location:** Muscat, Muscat Governorate, Oman **Area:** Qurum Complex **Salary:** OMR 1,100 per month **Job Type:** Full\-time Job Overview 1980 Books is seeking an organized and detail\-oriented **Publishing Operations Manager** to oversee the day\-to\-day processes involved in producing and distributing books and other publishing materials. The successful candidate will coordinate editorial, design, production, printing, inventory, distribution, and supplier activities to ensure publishing projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Key Responsibilities * Manage end\-to\-end publishing operations from manuscript preparation through production and distribution. * Coordinate with authors, editors, designers, proofreaders, printers, distributors, and other publishing partners. * Develop and maintain publishing schedules, production timelines, and project trackers. * Monitor multiple publishing projects and ensure deadlines are met. * Coordinate manuscript, proofreading, formatting, cover design, and production processes. * Review production specifications and ensure final materials meet quality standards. * Manage relationships with printing companies, suppliers, distributors, and logistics providers. * Obtain quotations, compare supplier costs, and support production budget management. * Coordinate print orders, inventory levels, warehousing, and distribution requirements. * Monitor stock availability and support reprinting decisions based on sales and demand. * Maintain accurate publishing records, contracts, production files, and operational documentation. * Identify workflow improvements that increase efficiency and reduce production costs. * Track project costs, delivery schedules, production issues, and supplier performance. * Prepare regular operational reports and updates for management. * Coordinate with sales and marketing teams to align publication schedules with promotional activities. * Ensure publishing activities comply with relevant copyright, licensing, quality, and business requirements. * Stay informed about publishing technology, production methods, market trends, and industry best practices. Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree in Publishing, Business Administration, Communications, Literature, Media, or a related field. * Proven experience in publishing operations, book production, print management, or a similar role. * Strong understanding of editorial workflows, printing processes, distribution, and inventory management. * Excellent project\-management, organizational, and time\-management skills. * Strong communication and coordination abilities. * Experience working with authors, editors, designers, printers, and external vendors. * Good understanding of budgets, production costs, purchasing, and supplier management. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office and publishing or project\-management software. * Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. * Professional proficiency in English; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
