Job description

We are looking for a proactive and technically competent Project Engineer with strong site experience, preferably within: · Interior fit\-out · Interior design \& build · Commercial interiors · Civil works · Construction · Hospitality projects · Corporate offices · High\-end residential projects Candidates with direct interior fit\-out / design \& build experience will be given preference. Preferred Experience · Minimum 4–7 years of relevant experience. · Strong experience in site execution and supervision. · Oman or GCC experience is preferred. · Experience working with consultants, clients and subcontractors. · Experience in commercial, office, hospitality or high\-end residential fit\-out projects. · Ability to independently manage assigned areas of a project. Preferred Qualification · Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related discipline. Relevant practical site experience is very important. Key Responsibilities The Project Engineer will be responsible for: · Daily site supervision. · Monitoring subcontractor activities. · Reviewing approved drawings before execution. · Checking site dimensions and existing conditions. · Coordinating architectural, interior and MEP works. · Monitoring workmanship and quality. · Managing daily site activities. · Monitoring manpower and productivity. · Following the approved project programme. · Preparing daily and weekly progress updates. · Coordinating material requirements. · Inspecting materials delivered to site. · Ensuring only approved materials are used. · Coordinating shop drawings and technical clarifications. · Identifying clashes and technical issues. · Raising RFIs where required. · Coordinating consultant/client inspections. · Conducting internal quality inspections before consultant inspections. · Monitoring snagging and snag closure. · Supporting testing and commissioning. · Maintaining site documentation. · Coordinating as\-built information. · Supporting final project handover. Technical Knowledge Required The candidate should be able to understand and review: · Architectural drawings. · Interior design drawings. · MEP drawings. · Reflected ceiling plans. · Flooring layouts. · Joinery drawings. · Furniture layouts. · Shop drawings. · Material specifications. · Sections and construction details. The candidate should be capable of identifying discrepancies between drawings and actual site conditions before works are executed. Site Execution Experience The candidate should have practical experience supervising trades such as: · Gypsum and partitions. · Ceiling works. · Flooring. · Tiles and marble. · Painting and wall finishes. · Joinery. · Glass works. · Metal works. · Doors and hardware. · Electrical works. · Lighting. · HVAC. · Plumbing. · Furniture installation. The candidate does not need to personally perform these trades but must understand how to coordinate and inspect them. Quality Control A major part of this position is quality control. The Project Engineer must: · Inspect work before requesting consultant/client inspection. · Identify poor workmanship immediately. · Prevent defective work from being covered. · Ensure work is completed according to approved drawings. · Minimise rework. · Maintain RVI's quality standards. · Conduct internal snagging before client inspections. We require someone who pays strong attention to finishing quality and details. Subcontractor Management The candidate should be confident managing subcontractors and site labour. This includes: · Communicating daily activities. · Setting priorities. · Monitoring manpower. · Monitoring productivity. · Checking quality. · Following deadlines. · Escalating poor performance. · Coordinating multiple trades working in the same area. Project Planning \& Progress The candidate should understand basic project planning and be able to: · Follow project programmes. · Prepare daily work plans. · Support weekly look\-ahead planning. · Identify delays early. · Monitor planned versus actual progress. · Highlight manpower or material shortages. · Recommend recovery actions. Material Coordination The Project Engineer must coordinate material requirements in advance. Responsibilities include: · Identifying materials required. · Confirming quantities. · Coordinating specifications. · Monitoring material approvals. · Tracking delivery dates. · Identifying long\-lead materials. · Checking delivered materials. · Preventing use of incorrect or unapproved materials. Reporting The candidate must be disciplined in reporting. Daily reporting should cover: · Activities completed. · Work in progress. · Manpower. · Materials received. · Inspections. · Issues and delays. · Required decisions. · Next\-day activities. · Site photographs. The candidate must be comfortable providing accurate information to the Project Manager and management. Client \& Consultant Coordination The Project Engineer should be professional and confident when dealing with: · Consultants. · Client representatives. · Project managers. · Building management. · Facility management. · Subcontractors. The candidate should understand that major commercial or contractual commitments must be referred to the Project Manager/management. Handover Experience Preference will be given to candidates who have experience managing projects through: Mobilisation → Execution → Inspection → Snagging → Testing \& Commissioning → Final Handover The candidate should understand the importance of: · Snag closure. · Final cleaning. · As\-built drawings. · O\&M documentation. · Warranties. · Testing records. · Final inspections. Software Skills Preferred knowledge of: · AutoCAD. · Microsoft Excel. · Microsoft Word. · Microsoft Project. · Outlook. · PDF/drawing review software. Candidate Personality We are looking for someone who is: · Technically strong. · Responsible. · Proactive. · Detail oriented. · Quality focused. · Organised. · Good at problem solving. · Able to work under pressure. · Strong in subcontractor management. · Strong in site coordination. · Disciplined in reporting. · Accountable for results. · Able to work independently when required. Language · Good spoken and written English is required. · Arabic will be an advantage. · Hindi, Malayalam or other site languages will also be an advantage. Driving A valid Oman driving licence is strongly preferred, as the role may require movement between project sites. Key Performance Expectations The Project Engineer will be evaluated based on: · Project progress. · Quality of execution. · Reduction of rework. · Inspection success rate. · Snag levels. · Snag closure speed. · Subcontractor performance. · Material planning. · Accuracy of reporting. · Technical coordination. · Site organisation. · Compliance with approved drawings. · Achievement of project milestones.
