Job description

**GET FABRICATION** *Job Description* **Job Title:** Production Engineer **Department:** Production **Reports To:** Operations Manager **Location:** GET Fabrication Workshop, UAE **Direct Interfaces:** Workshop Supervisor, Design Engineer, Procurement, QC/HSEQ **Employment Type:** Full\-Time **Job Purpose** The Production Engineer is responsible for translating client requirements and design specifications into accurate cost estimates and executable production plans for GET Fabrication's core product lines: steel storage tanks, trailers, and acoustic enclosures for generator sets and pump packages. This role bridges Engineering/Design, Procurement, and the Workshop floor — ensuring every job is estimated on real cost data, planned to a realistic schedule, and delivered to specification, on budget, and on time. **Key Responsibilities** * Tender \& Inquiry Evaluation: Review client RFQs, technical specifications, and engineering drawings for tanks, trailers, acoustic enclosures, and pump canopies. * Material Take\-Off (MTO): Extract precise material quantities (steel plates, structural sections, pipes, hardware) and apply realistic scrap/cutting wastage allowances. * Cost Build\-Up: Calculate shop floor man\-hours (cutting, bending/rolling, fit\-up, MIG/TIG welding, surface preparation, and industrial painting) and machine cycle times. * Estimation: Prepare detailed estimates and job order (material take\-off, labor hours, consumables, and subcontracted work) for tanks, trailers, and acoustic generator/pump enclosures, based on approved drawings and specifications. * Actual job costing against original estimates: track material usage, labor hours, and rework, and report cost variances to the Operations Manager and Managing Director. * Develop and issue production schedules and job travelers for each work order, sequencing cutting, forming, welding, assembly, and coating stages in coordination with the Workshop Supervisor. * Review design drawings and specification sheets from the Design Engineer and flag design or tolerance issues before release to the shop floor. * Generate and validate Bills of Materials (BOM) / material requisitions, and coordinate with Procurement to confirm lead times and quantities match the job budget before LPO issuance. * Monitor shop floor progress against plan, resolve production bottlenecks, late delivery and escalate resourcing or scheduling conflicts early. * Support estimating accuracy over time by maintaining and refining standard labor and material norms using actual job data from the ERP/production tracking system. * Ensure production documentation — job timing, inspection checkpoints, material certificates, and QC sign\-offs — is complete and entered into the ERP system before a job is released for dispatch. * Coordinate with QC/HSEQ to ensure fabrication meets applicable codes and standards prior to final inspection sign\-off. * Support the Operations Manager in identifying process improvements and automation opportunities to raise shop floor throughput and reduce rework. **Requirements — Must\-Have** * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Production Engineering (or equivalent hands\-on fabrication experience). * 3–6 years of experience in a metal fabrication, steel structures, tank manufacturing, or generator/enclosure production environment. * Demonstrated ability to produce material take\-offs and labor estimates from engineering drawings — not just administer a pre\-built BOQ. * Working knowledge of steel fabrication processes: cutting, forming, welding (and associated welding standards), and surface coating/painting. * Comfortable reading and marking up mechanical/fabrication drawings (2D GA drawings, cutting lists, spec sheets). * Strong Excel skills for cost tracking and variance analysis. **Preferred (Nice\-to\-Have)** * Direct experience estimating or producing storage tanks, tank farms, or pressure/atmospheric vessels. * Experience with trailer chassis fabrication or mobile equipment skid design. * Familiarity with acoustic enclosure design principles for generator sets and pump packages (noise attenuation, ventilation/airflow trade\-offs). * AutoCAD or SolidWorks literacy for reviewing/marking up drawings. * UAE fabrication industry experience and familiarity with local codes and client expectations (oil \& gas, energy, contracting sectors). **What Success Looks Like in the First 6 Months** Estimates issued by this role track within an agreed variance of actual job cost; production schedules are realistic and consistently met without last\-minute firefighting; the Workshop Supervisor and Procurement Manager have a single reliable source for job scope, BOM, and timeline; and the ERP system reflects real job costing data that improves the accuracy of every subsequent estimate. Pay: From AED4,000\.00 per month Work Location: In person
