Middle School Principal

The Purpose of the Middle School Principal: In collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team, and under the guidance of our mission and values, the job goals for this position are to maximize student and adult learning; to build and lead an effective, collaborative Middle School community; to create a learning environment where students and teachers are able to thrive, and to understand and implement our 5 Year Strategic Plan. Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in Educational Administration/Leadership required; A minimum of 3 years experience as a Division Administrator; Proven experience as a successful educational leader; Valid administrative certification through a North American institution is an asset; Demonstrated knowledge of instruction, curriculum, assessment, and exemplary practices in middle school education; Excellent communication skills; Considerable classroom teaching experience; Reports to: Superintendent The Understandings, Skills, Values, and Mindset of the Middle School Principal are: Educational Leadership: Supports and promotes the AIS-R’s core values and mission; Serves as the Middle School’s learning leader, modeling life-long learning, promoting best practices, and designing programs that boost student achievement; Works collaboratively with faculty, parents and students to develop and implement a comprehensive vision for the school; Creates opportunities for students to contribute their input and initiate change; Maintains a system of accountability for teachers and students that measures learning success; Collaborates with the AIS-R Leadership Team on school-wide initiatives; Engages parents, students, and staff in collaborative efforts to affect change; Articulates and implements practices that place the student at the center of our efforts; Promotes school improvement initiatives that are consistent with best practices in Middle School education; Designs programs to improve student test scores on internal assessments and standardized assessments; Leads learning programs designed to broaden student experiences (ie. WWWs; Exploratory Trips; Service Learning; Field Trips)
